Nashville is expensive af for no damn reason. But that's also because I'm close to downtown.
Of the 3, I'd still go Nashville. Maybe it's because I'm working remote right now, but when I hop on the highways, there never seems to be any traffic.

The only guy choosing Memphis

I live in Atlanta. Only way I’d move here is to be 30 miles or more outside the city limits. And only time I’d head that way is to go to the airport.
Charlotte would be first choice

Chicago is knock-off new York.
La is like 10 medium cities combined into one.
Seattle is a shite hole filled with the worst people from all 50 states and so is Portland. I have spent the last 5 years on the west coast.

30 miles outside of Atlanta is either dull or outright shitty in almost every direction except Milton

Charlotte. It's the smallest and doesn't really have the progressive AIDS yet. Also, closer to both the beach and the mountains.

Nashville is the smallest...2MM metro population to Charlotte's 2.6MM. Atlanta tops at 6MM metro.

Surprisingly, I'd pick Atlanta. I've lived there since 2001 (with MT part time since 05), and it's 2 hrs from real mountains. 4 to beach (Atlantic or Gulf). Trees and trails and wife choice of good burbs.
I have never had to commute though and live in a beautiful neighborhood forest.
Nashville and Charlotte do nothing for me.

I can walk to Emory or downtown Decatur and I can run a full marathon on 90% trails/path without backtracking, from my house. There's whitewater, climbing, great mtn biking, nice lakes nearby.
I literally never go downtown (SECCG is about it), midtown or even to buckhead.
The city itself is a wreck, but the metro has plenty to offer. I've spent a lot of time in CLT and Nashville. And while I wouldn't choose any of the three of I had a world of options, I can't say Atlanta--done properly--is anywhere near completely junk.
