This was to make sure first responders keep service during emergencies. They won a contract. I advised them against letting AT&T win due to their outage during the flood of 2016. I was told there would be stiff penalties if they did that to FirstNet.

It's all bullshite, right?

AT&T will give the right people some kickbacks and have their contract extended.

If Verizon is smart they will have some major deals in the next month and take a ton of AT&T costumers in south LA.

Is there a map to look at current AT&T outages in South LA? Just got service back in my neighborhood but want to see if family who aren’t answering are still without service.

FirstNet operates on different bands on the spectrum and prioritizes traffic for first responders on the network. It's not a completely separate network with it's own towers or anything. If the network is down it's all down.

Verizon will mop up with new contracts.

AT&T has a hard time not being subpar.

Honestly Katrina was a windfall for Verizon in this state. I'm guessing this might be the one that helps Verizon become the largest provider in the state by subscriber.

That's actually quite common in here. I still act in a contractual advisory capacity for a few state agencies even though I haven't held a classified position for some years.

I get that the movie industry has been pretty big for a while, but are there a really significant number of costumers? Seems that you would need a range of trades to support the business.

Funny that this thread popped up. Just told my wife this morning that we are switching to Verizon as soon as the dust settles.

Only issue with Verizon was early this morning outbound calls were getting that all circuits are busy for less than an hour. Internet, SMS, etc has been and remains rock solid (5G). Switched from
ATT in 2014 and never looked back.

ATT sucks.

Left their cellular service 2 years ago, but I have ATT fiber for home internet. Everything was fully operational this morning until about 10 AM before they crashed their internet service. So much for getting work done today.

Thanks for breaking it after the storm, ATT!
