What is the frequency of this complication from Covid 19? <5% of confirmed cases?

Pretty simply math suggests that shutting down the economy like we are will have a much larger impact then letting the disease run its course. This will not disappear in a month or two. Vaccines take years of clinical trials and no company is going to take a risk on a vaccine that hasn’t been through multiple trials. For healthy people, it could be a better approach to go ahead and fight the virus and get it over with vs living in fear of the what if’s that people like you suggest.

Also, having a moratorium on bills doesn’t negate what’s owed. eventually all money due needs to be paid, which puts people in an even worse position.

There's also real data and examples of economic collapses causing major public health challenges.

And that's completely fair. It's why there are economic relief/stimulus packages in place for people to cover their expenses for a month out of work.

We're pretty quickly running out of levers to pull.

You also need to have some velocity throughout the economy to start raising the funds for that scale of relief. Deep recessions and depressions also bring a behemoth of human suffering with them on their own; higher UE, credit freezes, and so on beget their own problems, their own deaths, their own suffering.

The people asking these questions might be a bit crude about it, but they are completely fair questions to ask. At some point there is a trade off that's not worth it; it's the entire reason concepts like VSL and QALY exist. If this thing starts grinding past six weeks or so, the economic suffering is going to be bad enough to start thinking about these problems very differently.

Those same people you mention probably don't have health insurance

No one is going to take you seriously if you keep making outrageously false statements like this.

That's what I love about this guy, he's forgetting the points he's making:

- Loose a month's pay. But you can take out a loan!

- Get admitted to the hospital. No way to pay it back.

He’s defeated his own argument so many times I’ve lost track.

The overwhelming majority of cases, won’t require hospitalizations. You’re point is terribly bad.

Nearly 80% of people live paycheck to paycheck. I’ll be generous and say maybe 10% of that 80% would rack up a hospital bill.

If this thing was putting everyone out of commission for two weeks who got it, you may have a valid argument. Its simply not, nowhere close in fact

the democrats are loving this. they don't care how much money they lose in the stock markets. as long as they can make Trump look bad. this virus was all planned.just as soon as the impeachment backfired it was set in motion.

I think What he is actually saying is

Guaranteed to be out of a job for a month and healthy<<<<<< Having about a 1% chance of being out of a job for a month with medical debt and recovering from a serious lung infection

0.006% of China’s population got the virus. It obviously doesn’t spread as easily as some of you want it to

82,000 out of 1.4 Billion

You have seen from any economic disaster ever, that when a large amount of people are jobless/ruined, people die, people don't show up to work.If we wait until it's bad, our economy will be ruined and people will be out of work for years

It works this way too.
