19. I had this uncanny sense of unfulfillment at an early age which led to me ultimately moving.

Rummy my friend, do yourself a favor, and very mindfully do something sweet and selfless and beautiful for your daughter that is out of the ordinary that demonstrates your love for her. Take her somewhere unexpected, cut class and take her to a concert or wherever, just the two of you. It will sustain her in years to come,

I know you know all this. For other's benefit.

Excellent advice, buddy.

This site was lit. From the bar in the quarter that never closed to that user with a generator and a satellite uplink posting everything going on and some of that crazy video footage that we've never seen since.. In particular the reporters going up the fire escape and busting in on that room with all the NOLA cops sitting around with a bunch of stolen rolexes and jewelry.

Hard to believe how long ago that all was

The day I "woke up" to having been raised in a cult. In my mid-30's, one day it hit me that my entire world view and everything I'd done in service to the cult was all one big lie.

One of the core beliefs was that followers would live forever, so my age never really mattered to me. After I got out, I felt like I'd wasted my entire life. Even several years later, I can still recite and respond from the brainwashing like a robot. It's as hard for my wife to understand as it is for me to understand what most of yall would consider normal, like parties, prom, holidays, birthdays, going to college.

So, in the words of Red from Shawshank Redemption, I could get busy living or get busy dying. I don't have some wild life, but if there's something I wanna do I just do it.

My daughter turned 15 this past weekend and it hit me hard Saturday morning.

In three years she'll be into her Senior year in HS and will not have much longer left under our roof - frightening thought.

My daughter is a senor this year and let me tell you, the past 3 years have been the hardest years ever.....driving, parties, going out to college bars with her fake ID's....teenagers are going to teenage

When i realized I partied all of my 20s, don't remember shite from that decade, finally started a career in my 30s, and now have friends who have kids in high school.

I feel like I was just hanging out and doing all kinds of crazy shite and now, all I worry about is saving for retirement and my career and 10 or so years from my life are just a blank slate.

It honestly feels like the older you get, the faster time moves.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper...

The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.

Here’s how to gain some context on getting older and how ancient we might seem to the new yutes:

Subtract the year you graduated HS from this year (38 in my case as I graduated in 86).

Now subtract that number from the year you graduated: I.E: 1948 in my case.

So the amount of time that has passed since I was a senior in High School would bring me back to 1948 if I went the other way with it, back in the past instead of forward into thr future.

Now think of how ancient 1948 seemed to you when you were a high school senior.

Now your day is truly fricked, if you haven’t already come to terms with it, lol
