I’m just about to that point. Fortunately there is NOTHING else going on right now so I’m not really being affected but it’s annoying to say the lease

Responsible adults are too afraid of losing their job, having their business destroyed to speak out too much. The leftists are playing for keeps and will report any misstep or opposition to impact you royally.

You can get online under your own name and call cops pigs and claim riots are justified and keep your job right now.

You get online and say "all lives matter" and you legitimately might get shitcanned.

The nuts are backed, at least implicitly, by corporations and mainstream media.

Yeah, unfortunately public image in the day of social media is pretty much everything no matter how big or small your company is. It's much easier for them to cut you loose than it is to attempt to defend you. It's no different than insurance companies settling frivolous claims out of court.

The way I see it the US is mirroring post-WWI Germany. In the immediate aftermath of the war it was left-wing communist extremist groups causing chaos across the county. This rise in the extreme left was met by a rise on the extreme right. The result was first years of street violence followed by the rise to power of the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

I suspect that most people in this country with any real power or authority realize that the lion's share of this nonsense are simple platitudes to placate the loudest of the bunch. They view it similar to dealing with petulant children rolling about and screaming on the floor. They are banking on this being temporary appeasement with no real substance. That's usually their first thought when an overabundance of poorly conceived catchphrases start being bantered about by the loudest of the groups.

I'm not saying I believe this. And I'm not saying I don't believe this.

I’m a lifelong student of history. One of the main things that comes from this you start to see how history is connected. You see patterns, history repeating itself. It’s happened before, it’s happening again.

The tipping point will be rural America.

When they try to bring their horseshite to small town America, it’ll be game on. Call it what you will; white trash, hicks, rednecks, whatever. These folks don’t give two shits about what Ellen tweets,or LeBron posts, or this athlete or celebrity. They understand what most slaves to social media don’t. Its phony calculated bullshite designed to cast them in the best light possible. So easy to be “woke” in your gated secure compound, with your private security and assistants and your millions in the bank. Bring that shite to rural America. It won’t be pretty.

True

However,

I don’t think myself or the people I associate with are really affected much in anyway with the BLM movement stuff.

The lack of affinity these people have for free thought and free speech is very startling and is setting a horrifying precedent.

I’m going to become a father in December and I’m more than a little concerned at what kind of world she’s going to be living in when she is my age. How’s her worldview going to be shaped by her peers and teachers? Free speech and free thought is not tolerated in academia nowadays and any dissenting opinions are quickly snuffed out. Will she have the courage or ability to speak her mind in a world that seems to not tolerate an opinion that doesn’t fall in lockstep with the accepted opinions?
