Pretty are you can get a ram 1500 with crew cab and 6.5' bed. I've seen a few on the road.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2016 base model (and I mean base as in my only upgrades are keyless entry and 16 inch alloy wheels) Tacoma and these frickers won't budge on the price. While it's not even close to 50k, or even 40k, for a midsize extremely base model truck it's pretty expensive.
I was recently looking at those and the GMC Canyon. Found a crew cab canyon pretty much loaded, minus leather, 4x4, and lane departure warning for 28k. Has Bose, remote start, navigation. The cheapest Tacoma price Leblanc had was 30k and the interior sucks
Eta: I talked them down from 32k

Pulled the trigger on a loaded Silverado 5.3 V8 4x4 LTZ for 39k (before TTL) last night. Thought I ended up with a pretty good deal. Sticker said MSRP of 53K but that's super inflated. Helped that it was truck month with multiple rebates and that it was the end of the month.

I have a loaded 2015 Subaru Outback AWD that gets 35mpg,and has as high a ground clearance as my Mitsubishi Montero. Can take it just about anywhere and I don't miss my truck. As long as we have a beater truck in the extended family, I'm good.

quote:A GLE and a Tahoe are not even in the same class. A GLS is more like it which you have to spend 90k on a GLS 550 to get close to a Denali you can get for under 70. In 2 years they will both be worth 50
See I just don't agree with this. Chevy is pricing them at luxury car pricing, but at the end of the day it's still just a truck with a cab on the back of it with a few additional seats.
I mean, you could buy a mercedes GLE for the price of a Chevy Tahoe, which is absolute insanity. A mercedes is so much of a nicer car.

This is a thread about trucks

The past 5 years. Ever since having a "new truck" wasn't enough. The industrial field has a big "one upper" crowd. That "I got to have one better than everyone else I know" mentality. Everyone has a truck, so they have to have the "best truck".
Oh you have a Lariat? Well I have a King Ranch. Oh you have a King Ranch? I have a Platinum. Z71? I have a Bayou Edition Z71.

Did you look at the 2016 tacomas? The insides (and outsides for the most part) are completely redone.
I've looked at the canyons and colorados too, but man I think they are just ungodly ugly.

Completely redone yet still 10 years behind the times.

It is insane. My wife totaled my '04 F250 that was $49,000 brand new. Here we are a decade later and the price had damn near doubled.($73,000).
With one starting college this year and two more right behind her I begrudgingly found a F150 that was acceptable. I'm figuring to hang on to it for a couple of years and trade in on a new 250 at that point. Only problem is I'm scared that they will be $80,000 by that point.

Since I need navigation, a nice soft dashboard, and heated seats.

Well i got my 2014 gmc sierra SLE 1500 texas edition double cab new for 33.5k with leather kit added. Has captains seating with center console, heated seats, etc. Just missing the nav. It is iridium metallic. Beautiful color.

Loaded half-ton trucks at the top of the line have crossed the $50k mark for several model years now.
That is my brightline between expensive and "you're outta your GD mind."

I see plenty of people with $125k houses driving $60k trucks and wonder how they think it makes any sense.
This seems silly. If you spend most of your working hours in your vehicle like many do, you want to be comfortable and you want the good shite. The amount your house costs is really irrelevant as long as it's everything you want or need. In fact, I could probably afford a house twice the size of the one I have now but I don't want to deal with the upkeep on all that extra space.

Yea, the baw with the king ranch F250 and the 1996 single wide makes sense.

Dude the Titan is a 3/4 ton truck plus a little bit these days. Add in an $8k Cummins V8 and (on the top Platinum Reserve trim anyway) a level of tech that shames an S class from 5 years ago and yeah, you're at $65k.

No way I'd spend anywhere near that on a Nissan.
