As soon as I could physically push the mower. By the time I could actually do a decent job, we got a shitty Murray riding mower which I wasn't allowed to drive.

About 7 or 8.

By age 12 we were dragging the lawnmower around the neighborhood and cutting yards for money.

A football field sized yard was about $3.00

10, but with 4 kids in the house dad preferred to do it himself because it gave him a few hours of solitude. So I didn't cut it too often.

At 5, I was taught to drive the Snapper. By 8 I was cutting teh churches and both grandmothers grass.

The grandmothers paid much better than the church.

I think it was 1st Grade, dad would make me trim along the side walk with a pair of large scissors.

Think it was 5th Grade before he let me use the lawn tractor. Ran him over with it once too

Around 10 or so. I can still see my father outlining the yard for me as I eagerly awaited my turn to finally be just like him.

He passed away last September at the age of 71.

I miss you Dad. I know you are always with me.

Probably around 9 or 10. My mom used to relentlessly torture me by waking me up at 9 o’clock every Saturday to do it.

My dad was a farmer so he worked pretty much every Saturday. Now my dad is handicapped and can’t do it anymore so I’m right back where I started with mom texting me and my brother every 3 days wanting to know when someone can cut their grass.

quote:

every Saturday
Grandmothers required Thursday grass cuttings so everything looked perfect for the weekend.

Red beans and rice on Monday.
Wednesday junior choir practice.
Grass cutting on Thursday.
Church on Sunday

Everything else was variable.
