kid down the road not much older than me cut three of his toes off push mowing. He ran around barefoot in the summer. We all thought he was about as tough as tough could be.

10. It was the first thing I learned to take pride in. I was a chubby kid so it helped me exercise and lose a lot of weight too. Wednesdays and Saturdays during the spring and summer, and just Saturdays in the fall and winter. Edging, cutting, sweeping - the whole shebang. I'd even collect my parents coffee grinds, egg shells, and fruits and vegetable scraps and spread them across the yard before I cut it. They had a damn nice lawn.

My Dad turned me loose on the lawn mower at 8 years old in 1981. All he told me was that he didn’t ever want to catch pulling the lawnmower backwards. No self propel. No blade safety. One time we couldn’t get the lawn mower started and he told me to put my finger on the spark plug. At 9 years old I don’t know what a spark plug is so I do it. He tried to start lawn mower and it shocks the shite out of me. He says well it has fire so it’s not that. He denies that story to this day.

8. Spring of '91.
Had a Lawn-Boy (step-dad had a sense of humor, I'll give him that) push mower. I couldn't/wasn't allowed to start it by myself until the next year. I sure learned ALL about straight lines that summer.
I had to do the weed eating, edging, & clip blowing too.
Rocked my Walk-Man with the belt clip from Day 1.
We moved out to 10 aces at 16. Got my 1st riding mower then. She was a Deere with a BIG cup holder & a place for my Disc-Man. Talk about LUXURY!

My son is 11.5 & can't mow without a serious attitude & REALLY can't mow in a straight line. I'm truly failing the American future.

Kind of sounds like you’re the little bitch boy ‘cuck’ if you’re giving out free labor when someone else can charge a fee, right?

8 years old. If it was thick I'd push on the lower crossbar of the handle for that section.
