im very surprised he has not lost it or even remembers to bring it around.
It stays at home in the same place. He only brings it with him when he goes to someone else's house and it stays in his bag. He is very responsible. We use it to locate my iPhone all the time.

I had this. Calls only. No texts, no games, no anything.

I got my first cell phone when I was 16, 13 sounds like a good age for a kid to get a cell phone IMO. I don't think I would give a 10 year old a cell phone, they'll probably lose it. Believe it or not kids used to ride their bike down to the park without cell phones, it is possible

Mid 20s. Bag phone with about a mile of cord. Kids got one when they started a ton of after school stuff probably around age 14. Even then it wasn't a nice phone just basic calls and texts

My kids aren't getting phones until they start going out and dating.

Got mine at the age of 18. It was a flip phone with no texting capability (at first).

My bestfriend moved away in 4th grade because of Katrina.
I went to visit him for Easter so my mom gave me a little Nokia phone or whatever just to call them everynight to keep in touch. Didn't get my first real phone till 8th grade (Motorola Razor). And I had that until my sophomore year

It was a different day and age, for sure.
About the same for me. In college, if we were going to meet up with people, and they weren't at the bar they were supposed to be at the time they were supposed to be, that was that for the evening.
And we didn't have any dating or hookup apps either...goddammit.

Since few people have landlines, I got my daughter one at 9. She's involved in a lot of activities, sleepovers etc.

I think I was 15. It was a Nokia prepaid phone where I had to buy minutes.
This was before smart phones.
And my parents didn't buy it. I bought it myself. I loved this thing at the time:
