I’m talking fully untethered. They pay for nothing, you pay for everything.

What’s the right age to kick my kids into the harsh reality of adult life?

You need to provide harsh reality at 16, but cutoff at 19

Some millennials are staying on their parents health insurance and under their roof until they are 30.

I’m not that kind of millennial.

I guess 22 when I got my first “real” job and moved away from home for it.

I was still under their insurance until 26 though if you consider that still being tethered to them.

Other than help with a large bill here or there, 20. I think they helped me with new tires on my car when I was in college, and helped with some moving expenses when I got my first job after college, but that's about it.

18. On the morning of my 18th birthday my mother walked into my bedroom and said “You are 18 now. Get out!”
Tough woman my mom. She had enough of my shite.

I dropped out of college at 20 and shipped out to boot camp at 21. Would have left sooner but had to do Delayed Entry.

I’m 52 and have never worked. My parents are in their early 80s and still work, dad works 2 jobs. I still live with them. They seem happy though, just tired

I guess at 24 or 25 when I got kicked off their health insurance. I'd been out of school for a couple years, but their insurance was way better than what my employer offered.
