Crowd control at this event must of been pathetic.

Well, videos from 9a earlier in the day suggest there was no crowd control, as the crowd overwhelmed ticket takers and barged in.

I hear there were a couple of people who were trampled at the REO Speedwagon concert last night trying to get to the bathroom.

In my day, 8 people dead at a rap concert meant a shooting

Get off my lawn

it's been happening a lot lately. My wife work for a 16000 seat venue and they stormed the gates for the last rap show they had there. They recently cancelled a show when they did it. That's the only way to enforce it. You can't get enough security for a crowd that large. You have to cancel the show immediately if the crowd starts up like that.

Imagine being trampled/suffocated with Travis Scott playing in the background as your death song. Yikes

Wasn’t Woodstock a free event ?

It was not intended to be free. They eventually opened the "gates" after they realized they couldn't keep people out.

Trust me when I tell you this Stout, the demographics for a Travis Scott concert is Caucasian and Asians mostly. Similar fan base to Playboy Carti, Trippie Redd, and Lil Uzi Vert. Majority of main stream rap artist concerts these days skew towards that demographic as well. I went to the Trippie redd concert in STL in august, 10% black at most. Mostly white frat boys and Soro girls there.

This is a stupidity, trashy background, and mob behavior thing.

Crowd crushes have been a part of mass gatherings ever since humans started gathering in mass.

quote:

In 80, Flavius Josephus recorded that in 66 AD, at around the beginning of the First Roman–Jewish War, a Roman soldier mooned Jewish pilgrims at the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem who had gathered for Passover, and "spake such words as you might expect upon such a posture" causing a riot in which youths threw stones at the soldiers, who then called in reinforcements – the pilgrims panicked, and the ensuing stampede resulted in the death of ten thousand Jews.

Crowd crushes are a big fear of mine. Don't know why. I've never liked being in masses of people.

Yeah I’d even argue Travis Scott fans are a majority white more than any other demographic

It seems like over time, in this modern age, we would have figured out how to handle those kind of situations much better.

The concert should never have happened once they overran the gates.

I saw videos of hundreds of people without tickets just storming entrances and running through security

This is kind of my point. But too many are making this a race thing.

I agree with you. But if this were say a Foo Fighters, or Marilyn Manson, or Chevelle, or Pearl Jam, or Bad Wolves, or any other rock concert, it would be made into a "white people are evil" race thing by a lot of media outlets. Just watch that Woodstock 99 documentary to see what I'm talking about. No way anyone in the media makes bad behavior at a rap concert into a race thing.

what a clusterfrick this whole scene yesterday appears to be.
a quick scan of online reactions:
1) blaming the organizers and especially the rapper who created this event.
2) bitching about not getting a refund and demanding free merchandise

I feel for the good parents out there who have to deal with their kids being into this garbage scene.
