damn, i had it at $300, then sold for a modest gain.

i was able buy back in at $700, though, but sadly i sold those at $7k and now its nearing $10k

so im still on the fence whether to jump back in

i have ETH too which i think people should look into

The one thing I liked about bitcoin was this idea of divisibility/scalability but the recent split off and call off of the split off had me kind of wondering why. I bought some eth a while back but have just been letting it sit. Have made 50%, but just don't have a lot into it.

I guy I work with showed me his coinbase act. He had over 33 bitcoins in May, but he either sold them or used them for gambling.

I have like 1 bitcoin. Been slowing putting a little in here and there.

-set aside an amount youre wiling to lose

-place a stop loss on your investment (say 5%) and if it hits that price, your coins will sell.

most youre out in this scenario is 5% of your original

always cracks me up to see folks talking shite about bitcoin crashing when they aren't financially impacted by its valuation at all. Sounds like some of y'all are pissed that you didn't make a lucrative investment and try to downplay the reality.

0 regret here. I think a lot of people are playing a dangerous game with their money

I spent about $1000 on the coins themselves and another $1200 on a mining rig many years ago. There is absolutely no danger to my money. Now, if you were getting involved just now, I'd understand the trepidation.

That doesn’t tell me anything. Why are you afraid to say how much you have?

Excuse the skepticism but I love folks on here claiming they invested in bitcoin during the hey days which should yield a multimillion dollar valuation but they say iM nOt CaShInG oUt as if yielding multimillion dollar returns from even the riskiest of investments within a few years is normal.

Not everyone who bought in early enough. I think we could see a sell off when it hits $10,000, but it will climb right back up. Bitcoin lost 30% of its value and landed close to the $5,000 mark less than a month ago...

But there is danger. Have you already cashed out your original investment? Unless you are only playing with house money, you still have danger

Although not a tremendous amount because you didn’t put a lot into it.

Because I don't want anyone to know. I'm not telling you how much I have in any of my other financial accounts, either.

I completely understand. I'm not in the multimillions yet (and tbh it would be hard to get rid of that much, not to mention the nightmare I'd deal with on capital gains). I'm hoping the valuation goes in to the 6 figures within the next decade, but if that's the case, there will be no reason to cash out - that kind of value will be because it is the currency of choice throughout the world.

Any money-related thread on Tigerdroppings reads like everyone is flush with millions in cash, available credit, assets, and investments. Nobody who is struggling to make ends meet posts about the great return they got on a risky investment. People struggling don’t take many risks.

The problem with this investment is that nobody can explain a 30% loss or 100% gain. There is nothing noteable to support it other than “people are buying”

There’s no dividends, bitcoin doesn’t produce anything, there’s a limited number of bitcoin, no regulations, and a few investors could crash the market

Thanks but no thanks. I am genuinely happy for anyone who made money off this.

no offense, but you say that because you do not understand the process

you also scare many others away while doing so.

you can place your coins onto an exchange and have it setup to sell once it drops below a price.

under these circumstances, the risk is minimal and the reward is immense (as we have seen).

we have also had this thread year after year.

Etherium has been skyrocketing. Don't understand what the hell it does, but it has gone from $340-570 in 2 weeks.

What if it is crashing and there are no buyers?

And yes, i understand stop loss orders very well, thank you. Do you think this is exclusive to bitcoin?

Of course. Everyone puts on a front but when they are called out they hide behind their keyboards. The only person I believe who made out like a bandit with bitcoin is wiki. The rest of us schmucks missed the boat.

BTC threads never fail: “Valuation is now $xxxx”

random posters: “glad I got in when I did, the future is bright”. “

Skeptical poster: “When did you get in, how much?”

Random poster: “uuuhhhh muh finances”
