A LARGE ASTEROID FLEW between Earth and the moon this week in a very close encounter.

At 328-feet wide, the asteroid, named 2019 OK, is the largest to get this close to Earth this year. It came within 45,000 miles of the planet soaring at a speed of nearly 55,000 miles per hour.

We're gonna get hit by a train and not know it till it's gone!

Is 328 ft really that big? And did we know about it before it passed?

I don’t need to know every time one misses. Let me know when one hits.

I think it’s critical we develop a more robust way of spotting, tracking, and deflecting these things. Development of such is much more important than a manned landing on Mars or returning to the moon.

Orrrr....it could be a lot easier to manufacture and launch defense systems from the moon.

About the size of the Giza Pyramid and 1/5 of the distance to the moon. Would have caused crawfish prices to spike if it hit.

We've still got the 1100 foot wide Asteroid 2006 AV89 to worry about in October:
