My favorite was when a fat black lady who was sitting yelled at me to come back after the alarm went off. I ain’t no dog who comes when is called. She can get off her arse and/or talk to me in a decent manner.

Amen. I don't respond to that kind of shite.

Kind of reminds me of guys on a job site. I wouldn't make it half a day as a construction worker because I'd flatten the first guy who tried to yell at me over a power tool.

I will not wait in line to do it, but I will stop if asked and it doesn't slow me down longer than the transaction requires for the old man/lady to do their job

Yeah because it’s a stupid thing to get upset about.

I do not. It is my property once I pay for it. I do not respond and just keep walking. No hard feelings with them.

I do not. I keep walking at the same pace and say something like "no, thank you, I'm good. Have a nice day."

I always have since it’s usually an older person just trying to do their job.

Yeah, for sure. They are just doing their jobs. I like having those people employed there. Maybe it is often times those who cannot get a job doing other things, so I respect the fact they are at least willing to work.

The guy at mine puts all the buggies out correctly so they're ready for use, sanitizes all of them, says hello, and is really nice.

Yes, I'll show my receipt to him that shows I purchased the 69 pack of toilet paper.

A few weeks ago at the Wal-mart in Praireville I got a drink after self-checkout. Two receipts. There was a large grumpy dude checking receipts. I got excited and showed him both receipts with a big grin. His fragile mind didn't compute at first, he grunted and pushed one back at me. Studied the second one like the gestapo checking papers. I wanted to run just to see what he would do. Just laughed, grabbed it from him, and said NO TVs! I left quickly afterwards.

Those people are useless because if someone is actually stealing they won’t stop. And if they’re not forcibly stopping shop lifters, why are they stopping me?

I don’t stop. It’s pointless. I have gone thru the checkout, that was your opportunity to verify anything. I just keep right along rolling. I say “No thank you and have a great day!” I will at Sams because it’s part of the membership deal. But at WalMart absolutely not. I also steal quite a bit at the self-checkout!

Until this thread I didn’t realize that people intentionally ignore the request. What a bunch of weirdos.

I haven’t had anyone ask to see my receipt at Walmart in I can’t remember how long.

As for Sam’s, we use their scan & go app. When we’re done we show the clerk the phone and she zaps a couple items and we go about our business.

I don't submit to searches or inspections of my papers without a darn good reason. Because Walmart has a bunch of criminal customers, I'm supposed to submit and allow myself to be treated as a criminal? Not happening. BTW, I don't ignore them, I just tell them have a nice day and keep going. Never had one insist, but if they ever do, I'll just walk in and get a refund. Costco and Sam's are clubs and if you join, then you play by their rules. This is less offensive to me, but still, not a member. Honestly, it's surprising that so many are so willing to submit to searches by minimum wage employees. Make no mistake, if they have no reason to believe you stole anything, you handing over a receipt is tantamount to a consensual search. It would be offensive enough if it were a government agent like a cop, but submitting to be searched by another private citizen, where there is no suspicion of you committing a crime, is just nuts. Don't agree with me, fine, live like you want to. Good day.

I haven’t been asked for a receipt at WM in a long time. If you want to hassle them, fold the receipt along the barcode and then pinch+tear off a portion of the barcode and the number of total items bought. If they ask why you did it, tell them you’re trying to prevent identity theft. Makes no sense but sounds good. But in the end, you’ll be the one inconvenienced.

At Walmart, no. At Costco, yes - it is part of the membership agreement.
