Prayers for your dad.

I also know several people, old and young who have been put in ICU and on ventilators. All unvaxed. One elderly couple were talked out of getting the vaccine by their adult son. Both ended up in ICU, the wife was on the vent (not sure about the husband). The good news is that both survived and recovered enough to at least be put in a rehabilitation facility.

This is what gets most people. They don't realize how low their oxygen levels get and by the time they get to the hospital its far below 95. Thankfully when my mother got it in january we monitored her oxygen levels constantly and as soon as it dropped we admitted her. Was a scary time but she pulled thru it. Praying for your dad bud.

My dad is a doctor in Louisiana who is the biggest LSU fan out there, graduate from LSU and LSU New Orleans School of medicine, and is also the reason I went to LSU and also want to pursue medicine at the same school he did. I just hope it’s not in his honor because I know he would be so proud the day I get accepted there. I’ve been trying for several years.

He is currently in the hospital and was placed on a ventilator this morning. He originally only thought he was going to get the antibody infusion until he was told his blood oxygen was already too low for it. What we thought was just a precautionary stay for a few days has turned into this. He was on bipap for several days until even then he did not improve. He didn’t get the vaccine and nothing I could have said would’ve made him. I’m all for personal choice as far as that goes, but I know he never thought he would wind up in the hospital and possibly die from this virus. We need all of the prayers we can get for him. This is one of the hardest things to happen to my family, and all I will say is if you think you’re a vulnerable individual who could develop serious disease symptoms and pneumonia, do what you think you need to do to prevent yourself from getting seriously ill. I don’t want this to happen to your family, even if you don’t think it ever could. I didn’t think it could to him, either, and even if he got sick, I trusted he’d get the best care as a physician, but these hospital protocols need to be questioned.

Thank y’all for any prayers.

Sorry you are going through this. We'll keep you and yours in our prayers.

I just found out about someone I know back home that is in the hospital on oxygen now.

People such as yourself not pushing antivax BS 24/7 also would have saved many lives

Prayers.

Our family had three funerals in a calendar month, including someone in their 30s. It's absolutely shameful that some of our citizens still want to play make believe with this thing, or announce that the numbers are trending downward so it's almost over. There are real people - someone's friends, neighbors and family still dying every day.

More prayers.

Damn they fricked him over. If O2 was high enough to not warrant intubation it absolutely could have helped.

Hope he pulls through but either way I would consult with a lawyer.

Oxygen under 93 is linked to the cocktail causing worse outcomes

I mean do yall think the doctor saw him and said "frick it, dont feel like doing the infusion"

Allowing patients to see loved ones in the hospital would have saved many lives IMO. And no, I have no double blind study checked by the AMA to make that assertion.

It 100% would have saved lives and there’s not an argument that can be made against it.

Vents are saving lives now but you want doctors to stop using them

He needed to try to be more active and not just lie in bed. Even just standing with a walker or getting physical therapy while in treatment are also other suggestions I could think of.

From what you said I would bet his O2 would plummet with any type of physical exertion.

Cosmo, can you explain when told someone is, for example, 60% on ventilator, or 90% on ventilator?

I mean I can understand the lower the %, the better, but how really bad are these %?

no you don't pride. you have literally no idea long term issues in any of this in either how it affects the people or how it'll affect the mutation of the virus. At least acknowledge the unknown.

Vaccines have been given for over a year. That is triple the standard time for evaluating long term effects

Let's be honest. You're an LSU fan for the exact same reason I've always been an LSU fan. It's because both of our dads were great men who are greatly loved and respected and give us someone to look up to and to emulate. My dad was the greatest man I ever knew. I'm pretty certain that your dad fits that description as well.

My fervent prayers are offered on his behalf. The world needs more dads like him.
