So as a doctor you wouldn’t give your patient the choice of a vent which roughly has a 30-50% survival rate and you would let then die on the bed with no more effort?

It truly sucks OP

My FIL went into the ICU on Wednesday. It's not looking good either. My wife has been in a daze the past few days.

Damn dude. Even with the success of your parent you couldnt convince him to go in early and get the antibody infusion?

We didn't even know he had COVID until they were bringing him to the hospital. They hid it from us (and my wife's siblings too) for some reason. Maybe they didn't want them to worry. I don't know. My FIL is a bit of a strange guy, so

My dad had a reaction to the infusion two weeks ago.

Vent is next if he doesn’t get better. It’s been downhill and at some point, they’re just get too weak to survive the shock of intubation where initially they may have.

What about this protocol: MATH

In stead of the ventilator. I just seems the biggest complication from ventilators is hypercapnia due to incomplete respiration.

Our lag time for getting the infusion is now 3-4 days. Its getting bad.

Correct. Most of them oxygenate well but dont ventilate well.

But at some point these people are breathing 30-40 times a minute for days and literally dont have the strength to do it themselves anymore even with bipap. Its the vent and have a coin flip at living or you die right there

We'll keep him in our prayers.

A lot of this going around. A friend of mine's dad has been on a ventilator for over a week. Older, smoker, heavy, and unvaccinated.

Thats why you are a nurse and not a doctor

That would have killed him with the quickness

I'm just dumbfounded that many doctors are ignoring the MATH Protocol in these cases.
