The school wouldn't release that info, and I doubt the teacher would publicize it.

Even the OP states the kid "allegedly" has COVID. Sounds like a Facebook group has gone straight hair salon and the social media lynching has begun.

I'm sure it was self reported. Sorry I'm pessimistic about human beings and taking advantage of situations

For clarity, if the teacher was in “close-contact” with a person that tested positive for coronavirus, they are required to quarantine. It is not their choice.

The question should be, if they are placed on forced leave to quarantine, then why are they at karate or on vacation?

You sound just like the Bama fans who accuse LSU and Coach O of postponing the game with them strictly because LSU is "scared" of them. You're no better than them, just different situation.

Do a little investigation before you hold them in contempt. It's not the teachers' fault. It's the stupid fricking rules set in place. The teachers would probably get in trouble (possibly fired) if they didn't follow the rules.

In our district , we don’t get to quarantine bc kids in our classroom are positive . As essential employees , only way we are out is if we or a person in household are positive

How do you know the teacher is lying?
If you’re in close contact with a positive case then there are guidelines to follow.

Say her husband tested positive. She hasn’t tested positive and has no symptoms. She still has to stay away from work for 14 days. Thems the rules!

If I didn’t have to fill out any paperwork I’d take a free vacation too. your problem isn’t with the teachers, it’s with the school board letting them do it

Not entirely wrong, but just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Ethics and all.

You mean that people will lie to get out of work sometimes? What is the world coming to?

Are they being paid for covid leave?

They are paid for the first leave due to Covid reasons. If they have to quarantine themselves or they catch the virus after that initial leave, they sit out on their own dime.

In my parish contact tracing is used to quarantine both teachers and students. If we fit the criteria, we have no choice but to quarantine. Piss off with always looking at teachers under a microscope when you don’t even know the whole story, and get on with your life.

If you were door kicking in the Middle East, you have more ability to address this issue than you are using.
A little effort bro, just a little.

Plant folks doing the same claim to have been around someone with Covid get 2 weeks vacation

I can vouch that a friend of mine works at a local plant and was trying like hell to overlap his contact with me to my covid diagnosis back in August. He wanted them 10 paid days off but timelines didn't match up.

And OP, if a teacher has a student that gets Covid, they are sent home to isolate for 2 weeks. From there, the teachers can do what they want besides come to school. It's not fraud or foul. Just the 'new normal'.

I know some districts in Alabama have taken this approach but most have not.

We have had district level talks about our stance. My position is that regardless of our personal opinions on the virus the reality forces schools to adhere to CDC & ADPH guidelines.

And in a strange turn of events... I just was notified I have been contact traced due to an employee at one of our schools testing positive. I am now home...but I ain't going to karate practice. But my family is moving out to go to inlaws and I will miss the remainder of this week of work...but will work from home...and I will miss Thanksgiving dinner.

It is what it is.

I am actually in MISS. But yea we have sent lots of kids home for contact tracing but not teachers. Just like everywhere else we are seeing a good spike in cases from students and teachers/ bus drivers

If your kids teacher is claiming Covid quarantine, check their Facebook page and you’ll be shocked to learn they are taking a vacation. My kids teacher was at Karate practice tonight with her kid who allegedly has Covid. I learned tonight that they don’t have to submit any paperwork to the school to substantiate their Covid leave.

Someone told me that one of the classes in their kid's grade had to quarantine for two weeks. This happened the week of Halloween. Evidently a kid and his mom, both tested positive. On Halloween, that mom was taking the kid out trick or treating

You can't be the reason a class has to quarantine for 2 weeks

I guess the schools don't really care as long as they don't have to make up any time since virtual classes still counts. Im sure the administration probably prefers to have less students at school.
