Masks are Kabuki theater.
They are like the TSA in airports.
All just an appearance to make you feel safer and included.

That mask you're wearing is a placebo put in place by the same people who caused all this panic.

The sad part is a lot of the people would rather this be prolonged because it made them feel special to sit at home on their arse. They don't want the virus to die, they want MONTAGES. They want their 'we are the world' moment and an Instagram selfie to preserve it.

I do. The store employees where I shop have stuck to their jobs and have had to wear masks to do so. I feel it's only fair that I do the same when I'm in their store. They don't know who might be infected and they are probably way more at risk from shoppers than shoppers are from them. I know a mask isn't 100% effective in stopping an infected person from infecting someone else or vice versa. But it's not zero either. Where the effectiveness really drops off is when only one or the other (the infected or the non-infected) is not using a mask.

Also, it doesn't really bother me to wear a mask. I worked in a petrochemical facility and was often required to wear respiratory protection for one reason or another. It was a requirement of the job, not an option. It often felt extremely unnecessary. But it was a good paying job and there was no way I was going to let my family down just because I felt it was an encroachment on my personal freedoms. That's asinine and immature.

This is a temporary inconvenience that was recommended, or in some places required, to protect yourself and others from infection. Seems reasonable to me. It's going to suck if all of this time we've been quarantined is wasted because some Covid Cathy gets it rolling again, and we have to do this all over.

I wear one when going to stores with a lot of people. If I'm just running to the gas station to grab a twelver, I don't wear a mask...just use hand sanitizer when I get back to my car before touching my face.

It's just a minor inconvenience and if it keeps me from getting sick, it's worth it. I don't get annual flu shots, am far from being a germaphobe, have a strong immunity system based on how seldom I get sick but, yeah, I'm not fricking around with some damn Covid. Reports of long-term lung damage, blood coagulation leading to strokes, or a couple weeks of not being able to breath are things I'm not comfortable gambling with.

If i actually had to wear a mask outside in public for my own health, then i wouldn't go outside in public.

Wearing at grocery store and gas station.

If I didn't have an infant at home and a heart condition myself, I wouldn't wear one.

Your infant isn’t at risk. At all. You on the other hand...

How many people--with a level of health similar to what you described yourself as posessing--have experienced any of these issues?

It's not even remotely analogous to smoking in restaurants. By smoking in restaurants you are 100% burdening someone else and causing them harm (either through that nasty arse smell or second hand smoke).

If I feel healthy, I'm not going to wear a mask. Hate it for you.

Of course I could be sick transmitting a disease of which I'm unaware. But that has been the case for all throughout human history. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Haven't worn a mask yet, and won't unless it's required to enter a store I want to shop at. Although I'm more than likely just going to avoid any store that is mandating masks. Their right to do so, and my right to not shop there.

They don't get it and probably never will.

They're selfish and ignorant.

Agree. I'm also betting a lot of these guys that claim they never wear PPE and never will, are the same guys I see wearing motorcycle helmets, leathers, hard hats, safety glasses, sun screen, neck gaiters, leather gloves, and so forth. They're too dumb to realize that's all PPE. This stance on wearing a mask has become a "Baw" thing.

I stood in line waiting to get at a grocery store yesterday. Everyone (about 5 or six people) had on masks, except for one guy. He was dressed like a "baw", walked like a "baw", and he wasn't going to put on a mask because that's his "baw" right! When he got to the front of the line to get a cart, the 18 year old girl that was wiping down the cart handles looked at him and asked, "You don't have a mask?" He looked around and all of us were looking at him, but none of us were his baw bretheren. He reaches in his pocket and drags out a neck gaiter and slipped it on. It was absolutely pathetic. Shamed by an 18 year old girl but probably brags online about being an alpha!
