As Cases Plummet In Florida, New Data Show Forcibly Masking Kids Made No Difference

New data coming out of Florida school districts show virtually zero difference between masked vs. unmasked counties, even as Covid-19 cases plummet across the state.
quote:
NEW PEDIATRIC CASES:
New COVID-19 cases for children ages 5-17 – the vast majority of the school-aged population – have decreased 79% in the month of September, in the 54 Florida counties where school districts have no masking policy or are following state law by honoring the parental opt-out rule.
For comparison, COVID-19 cases for children 5-17 in the 13 districts that imposed forced-masking in schools have decreased 77%, on average.
POSITIVITY RATES:
The 54 districts with opt-outs or no mask policy have seen an average decrease of 65% in positivity from week ending Aug. 19 (when school started) to the week ending Sep. 30.
The 13 districts that broke the law to impose forced-masking have seen an average decrease of 67%.
That is to say, the data for this school year to date shows no impact of forced masking in schools on pediatric COVID-19 prevalence. This is not surprising, since there were no statistically significant differences in case rates in forced-masking versus mask-optional schools during the 2020-21 school year in Florida.

Maybe they are a little biased in their reporting.

The only thing masks are good for is seeing who the cum guzzling sheep are when you’re at the store.

Imagine being angry at information that might show that forcing kids to cover their faces with pieces of cloth all day might not actually make sense.

Are u saying they skewed the math? Why are you mad at this news? Masks don’t work.

How would your opinion change if one of your approved sources reported the same stats?
And can I have a list of those approved sources, please?

Ad Hominem. Assuming they provide the actual numbers, that's the correct way to refute.

Thank you for the opportunity to say that I wouldn’t post anything by a right or left leaning source and expect the post to have credibility.

Per Florida Depts of Health & Education data: During September — school underway — juvenile COVID cases & positivity rates plummeted.
*No statistical differences* between counties without school mask requirements/offering opt-outs & counties imposing mask mandates on students.

“Biased reporting” means putting a particular partisan spin on some set of facts. Not fundamentally lying about what the facts are.
Are you saying townhall is fundamentally lying and making these numbers up? Because if you were saying, “bias reporting is causing them to misrepresent the relevant conclusion of these numbers”, that would be one thing. But if you were saying, “they are flat out inventing what the numbers are”, that’s another. And unless you’re falling in the latter category, I don’t know how this can be taken as anything other than good news.
We should all want kids to be able to remove their masks as soon as it’s safe. If we uncover evidence that it’s just as safe for them to remove their masks now as it is to have one on, then you’d have to be some kind of evil a-hole to view that as anything other than a positive development.

The cult of masking has to be the oddest thing I've seen in my life. It's mindboggling to see how many people seem to outright LOVE the practice, to the point that they literally can't stand the notion that we might be able to actually advocate for people to stop doing it.

Anybody with a computer and a link to their state's site for covid numbers should be able to verify this. Hell, we had someone post our numbers on this site daily. I'm sure there is a dashboard where you can navigate for the stats you are looking for. Why would you think they are lying about something that can easily be verified by anyone?

Texas has seen the opposite.

89% more cases reported among students and staff combined in districts without mask mandates.
96% more cases reported among students in districts without mask mandates.
61% more cases reported among staff in districts without mask mandates.
