Either 2 things would happen:
1 - You get arrested for knowing about it/conspiracy
2 - You eventually forget about one and people hate you for not knowing about it and warning everyone

I’d go back and place weird things out of place in historical events just to throw people off.
1066-the Magna Carta- insert “that’s a geaux Tigers.”
1492-Colombus arrives in the new world to find...a life size animatronic Lincoln, powered by vines and guinea Pigs on wheels. It shoots fire and spouts catchphrases from the 90s like “whoomp there it is.”
I’ll leave a fleshlight in Da Vinci’s Last Supper.
They’ll find a furby when they excavate the battle of Bosworth field.
It will drive them mad!

The "uncaused cause" is my thinking on this sort of thing. If you go back in time to prevent something from happening and prevent it from happening, you have no reason to go back in time to prevent it from happening.
I reckon you'd get into forming alternate timeline possibilities after that.

I do have to say I would go back to face off with the first guy who was thinking "I'm gonna buy me some of these Africans and bring them to the colonies" and slap him right across his beak and tell him to pick his own god damned cotton, it wasn't worth it.

I'd probably only go back 7 weeks or so, which is after my son was born (2 months old) and place outrageous sports bets every week and multiply my winnings over and over and over.
