Nobody is asking you to thank them. USAA is thanking them. The military is their clientele.

Budget and benefits need a good reducing

I have a friend who always gives me shite about my benefits. For instance, I get full healthcare and don’t have to pay into a system. That’s part of the package. It’s part of the compensation. If you don’t like it, frick off. If you’re jealous, sign up. I don’t complain about the benefits of other professions.

I've served for 22+ years in the USNR and have come to believe that many of today's veterans/actives/reservists are some of the biggest attention whores ever. Sixteen million (mostly)men served during WW2 and, for the most part, you would have never known except, perhaps, for their age. Many of the men I grew up around were WW2 vets, yet they rarely mentioned their service.

I served in the Air Force for 30+ years and don't call attention to myself other than the retirement certificate and shadow box I have on my desk.

True story, in Franklin Parish a man served his country overseas in Iraq while his "Spouse" back at home with his children, plotted to make sure when he returned he didnt have a pot to piss in.

And, when he did return she had filed for divorce, moved in with another man (engaged), had their home up for sale while their belongings were sold.

She was ridiculed with extreme prejudice. And deservingly so.

Most importantly, does she still qualify for USAA Auto Insurance?

It's a testament to the fact that spouses may have to go long periods of time without seeing their loved ones, and being left by themselves to take care of the kids, etc. back home.

You know there are other jobs that require people to be away from family for a while right?

I appreciate the military, but some of this shite gets old. Same with the, i deserve a discount or free shite at every place I go to. And then get mad that you are some how slighted because said place wont give you free shite.

Be a single parent for 12 months, as your kids go a year without a father or mother. It is a major sacrifice.
If you don't get that, that's on you. The families sacrifice a great deal too.

it's a USAA commercial dude.

Do some research on who their customer base is and get back to me.

I missed the part where this somehow affects your life.

And I don't know where you live, but I've never seen a service member get mad at an establishment because they did not have a veterans discount. I'm sure it happens, but I honestly think you're just making shite up to support your argument.

This is very rare. You see it now because it often ends up on facebook. People that do that are douche bags. The military has douche bags just like any other profession. I can't think of a profession that doesn't have douche bags. But if you think every military member goes around begging for discounts you are mistaken. Lumping all military members together as begging for discounts is douchey as well.
