I just don’t understand why USAA feels the needs to market themselves this much. Pretty much every military member I know has it. You have to be military to get it. And every military member knows the benefits

To be fair, she's probably only 19.

I mean, you HAVE to get married before your high school boyfriend gets deployed in his marine company.

You know that USAA's customer base is the military and their families, right?

You also HAVE to give birth at least 2 times before he gets deployed

My pops was basically the equivalent of the doctors in M.A.S.H. at Camp Pendleton for a year or two, so I served, too! And get the sweet USAA coverage like 40 years later.

It's a testament to the fact that spouses may have to go long periods of time without seeing their loved ones, and being left by themselves to take care of the kids, etc. back home.
are offshore wives fitting pipe (or whatever it is offshore workers do)? No.

Words mean things. If you aren't in the military, you aren't serving.

It is positively hilarious how much some of ya'lls panties are twisted over a graphic created by an organization called the National Military Family Association and a commercial created by USAA (which caters to the military and their families).

"Victoria's Secret's new bras are designed to provide the comfort you deserve"

ARGHHHHH what the frick is this shite?! So women for some reason automatically deserve comfort?!! This is such bullshite!!

And no, I am/was not in the military.

I know this board hates women because they cant get laid, but as someone who has managed to have the sex and make babies with a woman, I get it.

Having children at home by yourself for months at a time while your spouse is overseas would be hard as frick

I honestly would rather face gunfire

I'm pretty sure my mother would never say that she "served" even thought Dad went to Vietnam three times and had two tours of Korea (his WWII tours were before they were married). She did have her own extra responsibilities when Dad was gone, and this was in the days where most of the communication was by letter.

We have to pretend that spouses (women) are doing something heroic if their husbands are doing something heroic. We have to make women feel good about themselves even when they've done nothing. In this society we treat women like children.

The inverse however, isn't true. Because I don't care about Harriet Tubman's husband. He wasn't a hero, she was.

In a way it's correct. All family members do "sacrifice" some.

I guarantee you my two year old son would have you crying in a matter of hours. Throw in the newborn with him and you would be begging to see the golden sand of Baghdad

Especially you with your hatred of all things children

There are some people (like me and my wife) who are eligible for it but don’t even know it, like children of veterans. My dad separated decades ago and I didn’t get it until about 5 years ago.

My wife’s dad served, but she never really had a relationship with him and he passed away when she was 20.

True, being offshore is far more dangerous than flying a B-24 over Japanese held islands to photograph installations and ships, flying first generation helicopters in Korea, or flying helicopters in Vietnam or to land and pick up troops under fire.

I agree.

When a parent chooses to stay at home and raise children, they are not a hero to society - they are a hero to those children.

No validation outside the home is required.

I thank my wife everyday for raising our kids and I constantly remind them to do the same. This weekend will be all about mom in a big way.

But that has nothing to do with the rest of America.
