Sounds like people need to fork money out and buy the land from her, then allow the bridge to be built. Or get over it and accept it’s her land

If they want to build the bridge there, they will take her land, and she will get appraisers' FMV for it.

Correct.

The question id whether or not there is an alternative.

This is the thing, she’s raising a big fuss about it and there’s still 2 other alternatives in the running.

She makes The Advocate every few months with a sob story about the land.

No matter where you try to put the bridge, there's going to be some Laura Comeaux with a sob story about how "it should be anywhere but here".

The best option (traffic-wise) would have been crossing just below Farr Park, but the COE ixnayed that idea for some reason.

She's a piece of shite for this?

Give me a break. The government is about to forcefully buy her land. Eminent Domain is a real son of a bitch. I am not saying I'm against it, as it's necessary in a lot of cases, but it's still a bitch.

I'd be pissed too, even with the payout. These FMVs can be very wide ranging and there's a good chance she gets screwed on the value.

Which proposed route do you prefer?

The F-13-IV or F-14-V options. Preferable the one that puts the bridge closest to where LA-30/Nicholson and LA-74 meet. Not the one where the bridge is located 5+ miles away from LA-30.

After these shenanigans I hope she does get screwed. Without all the whining I would’ve supported paying well about FMV. Now? Zero sympathy.

Downright unAmerican to root for the government to steal land from a citizen by paying under value in a forced transaction.

they need to build the bridge somewhere where the infrastructure is already in place and at minimum don’t need to bulldoze a priceless cypress forest to do it. I’m all for progress but there must be some regard for such things that cannot be replaced

Don’t give a crap about some trees but if this gets them to not build the new bridge in such a stupid arse place all the way south of Plaquemine then I’m all for it.

Is she going to get paid enough? What’s enough to lose old growth forests?

Hope she's able to stand her ground. She's no doubt had offers thrown at her, probably a substantial amount, but she probably doesn't need it. I'd fight tooth and nail too if I was in her position.

My dad had to fight and hold on to 100 acres in northwest Louisiana and thankfully we still have it. He and my siblings and I had a lot of money thrown at us, nope, land meant too much and was more important than the money. I don’t blame her for not wanting it cut down.

What area? Assuming maybe with the NW i49 stretch.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the new bridge would be connected to I10 and I12 to create a southern interstate loop that would allow I12/I10 traffic to bypass the city entirely. Obviously I didn't read into things clearly and this is not the case.

Are they thinking that most of the plant workers would take the new bridge, thus reducing traffic? Just not sure how this massive project is going to make a huge difference.

The land has been in the Leblanc family for a long time. The Toyota Leblanc family that is. They aren’t hurting for money.

I would hope this is the long term future goal. But we’ll all be dead before that happens.

Ascension has basically said f no to extending anything across I-10 and up to I-12 on the east side of the river. The best we’re going to get is an I-10 west of BR to an I-10 south of BR connector.

O gtfo. Typical hypocrite. You're probably in the "the government can come try and take my guns and see what happens" camp (so am I). But when it comes to someone's family land, something they ain't making any more of, she's a piece of shite for wanting to keep it and it's ok for the government to just take what they want? Sounds like you're the piece of shite.
