I thank god for my father. Best man and best friend I know. Dads don't get enough praise these days. I don't have kids yet, but I know that I've had a great role model to fatherhood with my dad.

No lie, I worry they'll do well in school, move far away, create lives elsewhere, and we won't see each all together except the odd holiday. Wish the best for them and would never stand in the way, but damn if I don't enjoy them being around all the time.

I have 4; 17,13,4, and 2. I consider myself real lucky, in that, just as my two older ones were becoming older and more self sufficient, I had two younger ones to stem off the remorse of seeing my older two getting older.
I firmly believe I'm actually raising my children. Even my older two that live 40 miles away.(divorced) I'm at most volleyball games, baseball games, softball games, ballet, gymnastics, school functions, etc. I take them fishing and hunting, teach them life lessons, bust their arse when they do bad and praise them when they do good. My oldest is graduating this year, and, hands down, he's 10 x's the person I was at his age and his 13 y.o. sister is following that path as well.

My girlfriend swears I'm ruining her son. He's 5 and calls me dad and would swears I'm super man. His sperm donor is a POS and has no interest in him. Pretty sure between the burping/ farting to hey mom watch this.... he is being raised by me. He may not be a doctor but he understands respect, everyone is yes/no ma'am/sir, thank you, and is understanding nothing is free. He's a damn good kid and is gonna make a damn good man.

It's great sharing in their dreams. Makes me happy to know that my boy feels confident enough to dream big. Will he ever be a world class athlete driving a McLaren like he dreams...probably not...but being wide eyed and happy can't hurt.
I love hearing him go through the "one second left...down by two.." or "Dybala gets the ball..." I took him out to the high school stadium last weekend LINK and I'll always cherish being with him in moments like that.
I took him to the game yesterday and he didn't even want me to drive into the parking lot...let me off here. 11, and already too cool for me.

As a Dad, I don't feel like doing anything else but raising my four kids.
We have weekly/daily projects,
We get building plans and they learn to use hand tools and power tools on a weekly basis,
We play baseball, archery, ride bicycles, swim, hike, ping pong, pool, at least one on a daily basis.
We cook, learn to use various kitchen utensils, etc.
We read books, tell stories, play campfire type guessing games at night.
We shoot BB guns, slingshots, and sometimes the .22's.
We travel, take vacations, go to sporting events.
We study together, review homework, and all cross check and help the next youngest.
We watch movies, play musical instruments, experiment with art work and hand crafts
We go shopping, attend church, and do yardwork.
We take nets, jars, binoculars etc. to the lakes, canals, woods and catch frogs, lizards, bugs.
We use microscopes, make slides, and use chemistry sets.
We built a slot car track w/130' of track and race cars. Have an electric train set up we run. Build models.
We collect rocks, old coins, and each has a "collection" display of old memorabilia, trophies, medals, misc. curio, fossils, shells, and souvenirs from trips, etc.
We start savings accounts, learn to invest and prepare for the future.

My 8ur old asks me everything about life. He doesn't like learning things from other sources, just school or his parents.
