Are they going to keep the old terminals open? Which airlines are using the new terminal? Will there be a tram, train or shuttle connecting the old and new?

Shouldn't you be telling us?

The latest I heard was they were going to eliminate the current terminal; which I think would be a waste sicne they just revamped it a few years ago. There was also some dialogue about shuttles from the parking garages to the terminal, but have not heard anything about drop offs & pickups.

Maybe they’ll renovate the old terminal and an airline will use it as a hub.

ETA: I know that will never happen.

They're supposed to use the old terminal for Charter flights. All airlines are moving to the new terminal.

In the old terminal, A and B will be knocked down.

Between C and D, some of it will be kept open for general aviation, and some of it will become office space.

All regularly scheduled passenger airlines will use the new terminal.

The North Terminal will have a new garage for about 2200 cars and about 1300 surface parking spots. That's about 2100 spots less than the current parking garages and lots. Supposedly they are going to do a shuttle bus.

I haven't heard much at all about how this is all going to work, and it's very concerning. Not to mention, all the park and fly lots. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to get from the new terminal to the old garages/Airline Hwy.

While the terminal itself is setting up to be very nice, all of the access and surrounding stuff doesn't seem to be well thought out.

Would you expect anything else from the city of New Orleans? They didn't think about anything further than "we're building a new airport"

Lol. The loyola exit is going to be a complete clusterfrick. They dont have the money to build flyover ramps and such. The new terminal will be nice but getting there a disaster.

It's "Ly-OH-lah", for the record.

Yeah, I saw the artistic license taken with that interchange.

There's a hole in the middle of the new airport parking garage for the not-yet-built hotel.

Not happy that I won’t be able to access the airport from Airline. If they don’t have the new interstate interchange ready I don’t see how you would even drive up to the terminal. At some point they should have considered a tunnel underneath the runways so that you could still come in from Airline.

Always like the old arched ceiling. Is that going away?

My question is why not repurpose those facilities. Could Send Ex, UPS, USPS, etc.use them?

While a shuttle bus will work, a tram would be the best way to go. Hell, JBE had 8 million set aside for the now shelved gulf coast train route for Amtrak. Redirect those funds to airport access.
