Can't be said enough. Until cops know they will face consequences, this will continue to happen.

You should probably educate yourself on what this actually means rather than regurgitating something you heard while watching CNN.
EXACTLY. "We have too many frivolous lawsuits", but ... "Get rid of qualified immunity".

also it’s why they need more funding, more training, better pay. They should have a boot camp similar to military and it should pay 60k a year. Yeah I know it’s gonna piss some of you off to pay more taxes but as much bullshite that you already pay taxes on you might as well have something that actually matters that your tax dollars goes to.
Maybe it's just me but If my local law enforcement wanted to raise taxes and put it to a vote on a platform of "no more bullshite speed traps and checkpoints" I'd vote for the tax.

Trying to think back...
I bet I have been pulled over by police a dozen times in my life, have yet to be shot. What am I doing wrong?
Speeding
"Burning out" in a 240sx, got out of it when I offered the officer to try to get that car to "burn out," I'd love to see it
Ran a stop sign (aka rolling stop)
Window tint
Window tint again the same damn day
Speeding
Leaving a party DUI check
Pulled over to let friend puke, cop pulled up (I didn't drink at all during that time, convinced the cop my friend had the flu)
Speeding

Speeding
Ran a stop sign (another rolling stop)

Damn, I drive too fast.

Sheriff's office Sgt. Michael Davis, whom authorities said fatally shot Brittain during the encounter, is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
There’s only one other person who was there that morning. Jordan King, 16, spoke to KATV off camera. He said he and Brittain had worked through the night to change the transmission on his truck so he could work that morning and drove about a mile down the road to Mahoney's Body Shop to make the repairs. He said their families are friends with the owner.
King said that after they left the auto shop, Davis pulled them over on Arkansas 89.
King said Brittain's truck wouldn’t go into park, so Brittain got out to grab a blue oil jug to put behind his truck’s tires and stop it from hitting Davis' car. According to King, Davis then fired without telling Brittain to stop or get on the ground.
The cop is clearly a coward. Prison or being forced off duty....it's better that he not have a badge anymore.

Update
quote:
Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley released a video saying he supports the public release of body cam footage in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Hunter Brittain by a deputy "when the law and the State Police investigation allow it."
In the video, Staley said he prayed with the family and friends of Brittain Wednesday night and said he wants to know what happened like everyone else.

You omitted the fact that it happened at 3 AM

3am/3pm doesn't matter. He had permission to be at his friends shop.

It does matter. A cop’s suspicions are going to be heightened by someone leaving a closed business in the middle of the night.
First, it’s not wise to be at a closed business in the middle of the night.
Also, the vehicle shouldn’t have been on the road if he couldn’t put it in park.
You said they worked through the night to fix it. They didn’t work through the night.

I'm not for eliminating it completely because a lot of cops are working class folks trying to provide for their families and if you eliminate QI, you will make LEO recruitment much more difficult to a point where it endangers public safety and our communities become less safe.
However, I'm in support of watering it down for not just cops but for district attorneys as well. Make it easier to sue them but not to a level where its open season on them.
There has to be a middle ground between complete elimination and full blown QI.

Based on your description, it sounds like the kid quickly got out of the truck and reached in the bed of the truck to retrieve the oil jug. He could have just as easily been retrieving a firearm. This is a tragedy, but you can’t just jump out of a vehicle and immediately reach where the officer can’t see.
At 3AM as they left a business that was closed

Wtf? Many people, including my daughter, are on the road coming home from work at that time. This is America!

The guy was pulling out of a closed business and made sudden movements when he got out of his truck.

All of which are things that aren’t illegal. The cop was a pussy that has no business being a cop.
