posting this as it seems people think the AR river will have a big affect on the MS river. Obviously the AR river in a major flood will drop more water than average but it still is only one of many rivers that make up the overall MS river.

Thanks for the tributary flow graph. Great reality check. Just looking at a map would give the impression that some rivers, especially the Missouri, contribute way more to the total.

That is a great picture. I had no idea the relative flows of the various rivers, always neat to learn something new at my age.

Yeah people have a difficult time grasping how much water is already in the river south of Cairo. In order for rainfall or another tributary flow to have a significant impact, it's got to replace the water already flowing out at that specific location. Don't get me wrong, rainfall on or right before the crest is a problem, but often times these new inflows are staggered from the typical spring crest that moves down river. That lessens their ability to stack and compound problems.

The video that ACOE officer made last week was pretty alarming. They really are just gonna let the river do its thing

There’s a dig ban within 1500 ft of the toe of the levee but the ACOE hasn’t done a good enough job of informing people.

Every day I have to let people know that no, you can’t dig here right now, and it’s way above either of our pay grades. The water is above our heads just on the other side of the levee

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen water on the riverfront in vidalia. Lucky for them the levees there are massive because the flood waters would probably connect to the black river. That whole area is just cotton field bottoms.

Were there to be a mainline breach in Concordia Parish the only thing that would not be submerged is Waterproof, this is the reason it is named so.

The even bigger issue is everything south of there, a mainline breach would submerge 90% of everything East of I49 and South of I20 on its way to the gulf.

Long time as in 3 years? Plus in 2011 it was higher than it is now

Ended up being a false alarm, for now.... containment levee at oil storage facility breached, not main levee.

It's really bad in Missouri, with Both Rivers

Some places are 13-16++ feet over flood stage, and climbing.

Worst of all, we will get rain Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday, and then a possibility of 2 down pours all Friday. Levees not even getting a chance to break, water is clearing them with ease.

Eventually this shite will have to get released down stream. This could be a really bad Summer of flooding, prayers for all in these areas and those on the brink.!

Im tired of the rain. All of us need a break.
Crazy stat I saw earlier was, Niagara Falls flows at 150,000 gallons a sec and the Arkansas River is flowing at almost 3 millions gallons a second.

Pretty sure, I read that correctly.

3-5 inches of rain projected through Friday this week for parts of Arkansas and Missouri. 1-3 inches for Midwestern states, Louisiana, Miss.

Best drone video of the historic Arkansas River flooding. Figured some of you might enjoy it even though it sucks for a lot of folks.

Drone video.
