quote:I took it as this guy had already molested the kid, was out on bail and came and got the kid again. She was at risk because she is the main witness against this guy so Dad was right to be packing a pistol to fix the problem once and for all. Too bad the molester wrestled his gun away and shot himself in the head before he could.
Are we saying there were 2 separate predators, since the 67 yr old is staill awaiting his court date?

Why did they charge the father if a preliminary investigation says the pedo killed himself. And why charge him if the bail was so low and he's been released? This guy isn't a flight risk for a case like this and you clearly agree since the bail for 1st degree murder was so low. Makes no sense to already charge him.

Yes he deserves to die and I hope he burns in hell!

The usual O-T lynch mob is faster to convict and execute than Nancy Grace.
Not defending anyone's criminal behavior, but I would like to hear the girl's testimony. Suppose she was running away from abusive and murderous father, who shot someone trying to help her? "Reports" only seem to say he was shot for being "found in the same car". Could likely have been any one of us in that situation at some time in life. A few dozen fathers could have shot me in that case.

Context isn't going to matter too much in this case. Dude is old and shouldn't be with children in the dead of the night, especially with one he is suspected of having relations. He should be staying far away and building some type of defense (if there is one available). This does seem to the the appropriate ending and I'm sure the dad will get just a slap on the wrist unless there is some massive twist.
The part that always gets me on these threads is flipping the sexs. If it was a 67 year old woman and a 14 year old boy, we'd just think it's funny and want the woman to seek help. But in this case, the older predator needs to die. It just shows that big differences still exist in between the sexs and women get a ton of privilege..

No juror with a daughter will vote to convict him

I was in fear for my life and my daughter's safety judge.
Case dismissed.

This is what “jury nullification” is all about.

I'd be in to literally March to the prison and demand his release

Yeah, no shite. There is a difference between girls and boys - regardless of the programming these days.
In a real America, the men protect their wives and daughters.

I live in Lonoke county; of course big buzz around here.
All those in charge here aren't going to twist facts and come up with half truths to get a conviction; if the facts are what they seem to be then I'm fairly certain the charges will be dropped.

No. It couldn't be any one of us. If you are a 67 yo man found fleeing in a car with a 14 yo that you have already been charged for raping, then you need to be shot in the head. I hope you misunderstood what you read or misspoke. If not, your day is coming.

Does the dad have a go fund me yet. I'll contribute to his defense.

Im glad the perp was tried and sentenced all in the same day.
Saves a lot of taxpayer money.
He should get a tax refund.

I had only read the report in OP's post, which said nothing about who the deceased murder victim was or other background info. I now see the subsequent post with the purported GoFundMe account for the benefit of the accused murderer which suggests that the victim was the same man who had been arrested for allegedly raping the girl (and therefore arguably deserving of vigilante justice), but that still does not definitively answer a single one of the factual questions posed by the situation. There are people who are well trained in forensically interviewing victims and children, and it would be interesting to know what the girl has to say are the real facts before passing judgment on all involved, much less an immediate vigilante-style death sentence.
Perhaps the killing was "justified", for which there is a legal definition, and perhaps not, which may be why the father is now facing a murder charge. That is the purpose of our judicial system, and the reason for all accused citizens to have certain Constitutional rights to a trial of the facts in court. Unless, of course, some other citizen just kills them first. But go ahead all, and gather the pitchforks and torches, tar and feathers, assault rifles, whatever, and take matters into your own hands. Hatfields versus McCoys. Crips versus Bloods, Genovese versus Gambino - who needs a legal system when you can have quicker, cheaper street justice.
This and other similar scenarios just remind me of how Nancy Grace, whenever a little girl went missing, immediately accused and convicted the nearest handyman. By coincidence, I was asked just today why Casey Anthony was not in prison for killing her child (after being convicted daily for months by Nancy). It may be very interesting to see where OP's situation eventually ranks in American murder lore. Perhaps it will end up with a tv movie, or earn a three-part Dateline Special. Or it will be quietly swept under the rug as suggested by vote of the O-T. Could save the taxpayers a lot of money maintaining the legal system if all alleged crimes and civil disputes were simply submitted here with a limit of 100 words or less for each side.
And now back to JonBenet's brother, or parents. Which is guilty? Both? Who among you will execute the immediate death sentence verdict and save taxpayer money?

I just want to start by thanking everyone who has reached out, commented, shared, donated or prayed for our family. I don’t think we ever expected this kind of community support. We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude.
I’ll say this again, we are private people and navigating this absolute nightmare publicly has been difficult. Despite that, we also fully understand that we can’t do this without the public’s help. We need this story shared far and wide.
Our go fund me was taken down and this will be our new donation platform for now. We will also be opening up a bank account today for anyone who wishes to donate directly to the bank. Those details will be posted here in an update.
Venmo and cashapp are allowing some donations and blocking others. I will keep them listed in my profile.
Donations are wonderful and needed but despite the legal fight this has been the most traumatic event of our families life, all of us, so please just keep us in your prayers and add us to your prayer chains.
Please help us get this updated link out to the public and help us get this story shared.

The girl's mother also claimed that GoFundMe, the platform they were using to collect money for legal purposes, was returning funds to donors and eventually said the fundraiser had been closed altogether. Instead, she is collecting money on Venmo and Cash App.
A GoFundMe spokesperson told USA TODAY Friday afternoon that GoFundMe's Terms of Service prohibit fundraisers that raise money for the legal defense of anyone formally charged with "an alleged violent crime."
