There are plenty of Catholics in them. You don’t think those Spanish and French old money creole families are Catholic? Talking about original meaning of the word “creole”
Jews have a hard time getting in

What's the annual dry cleaner bill like just for these guys to get their tails ready for all the balls ?

Dry clean once at the beginning. Re-wear tails to every ball, stains add character. Hang in closet until following year. Repeat.

Well they used to ride until whatshername decided they were racist. Now, they probably just enjoy the feeling of belonging to an exclusive social club, the elite core of a once-great city.

She was Sharon Weston Broome before Sharon Weston Broomes unfortunately became stylish as city leadership. I'm kind of surprised boy wonder Mitch didn't kill Mardi Gras too.

The whole purpose of Mardi Gras is to be pretend royalty for a day, so that's par for the course, I assume.

He put a dent in a lot of krewe's finances by greatly increasing the fees and costs of police escorts associated with Mardi Gras. This helped to kill off a few smaller krewes as well as put a dent in the number of Second Lines.

Check out this social club called Napoleons Itch on Bourbon St. Everyone dresses like European nobles and you’ll be able mingle with some of New Orleans top attorneys, financial advisors, doctors etc.—all of which have hot daughters in the top sororities.

What is the old New Orleans aristocracy all about?

What is the point of having these highly exclusive old line krewes? I'm talking about the ones that don't even ride. What's the point? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. I think it's awesome cultcha. I am just trying to understand.

And yes this is a spinoff from the guy melting in the DC Mardi Gras thread.

Are you talking about ones like Twelfth Night? They still have balls and other events, they just don't waste money throwing trinkets and baubles to the peons.

I have a solid gold bean from the 100th anniversary Twelfth Night ball that one of my family got. It's like the size of my thumb.
