BULL…. An act of rebellion is only when they are subjects, not when sovereign states secede.

This isn’t grounds for treason.

Except for those that were pardoned by Lincoln before his death, 17 of whom were charged with treason specifically.

Again, Lincoln was extremely lenient on the Confederacy and in hindsight enabled political violence which undermined much more than the right of self determination for the Confederacy.

Ok then it was an attack by one country against another country….resulting in the US defending itself and eliminating the threat.

It really doesn’t matter, the south FAFO

Again, why don't the Articles of Secession speak of this economic warfare?

If they are so called, then so is the United States today. You can’t talk out of both sides of your mouth and expect someone takes you seriously. You can’t wrap yourself in the right of people to choose their own government and leaders within the Declaration of Independence, and then invalidate the exact same argument when it doesn’t suit you because it costs you territory and revenue, and that’s exactly what this was about, not some ridiculous higher calling. Wealth and Influence is what the North saw slipping through their fingers, and they sent thousands to their deaths to preserve it for themselves.

2. Abraham Lincoln, along with a majority of Americans, were no fans of the institution of slavery

He didn’t really give a shite about slavery. He saved the United States as we know them. He was incredibly racist. All are true. He was also extremely wise and had the gift of foresight that Southerners lacked. Abe didn’t like the idea of slavery in the North not because it was wrong, but because he knew it would eventually end and he knew that freed slaves would mostly live and put down roots on the same land they worked. It’s not a coincidence that the South’s black population percentage is so much bigger than other parts of the country today.

And there are no downsides for governments to continue to centralize.

Except the complete severance of accountability to the citizens of that country. The founders intentionally chose not to establish a supreme ruler. They gave limited power to the POTUS with the intent of not establishing a royal class of ruling elites.

When a government is granted 1 power, they will use that 1 to create 2 powers, they use the 2 to create a 3rd, and every power they create for themselves becomes easier.

While one outcome of the CW was an end to slavery, it in turn centralized power to corrupt to the shitshow that is today in Washington DC.

Are we?

My state has an enormous treasure trove of natural resources it contributes, yet enjoys virtually nothing from it as one of the poorest states in the union we are supposedly better for it.

How exactly are we better for it?

Brother, no government has cared about this until it was given reason to. Given that what was of primary importance to the Confederates, that doesn't imply that your vision would be played out.

We've had a ruling class of elites since the founding of this country. Indeed, the Confederacy was led by a faction of that ruling class.

Who can say what is worse? Corruption which with good governance could be dealt with, or an institution which treated human beings like property. The more you guys speak, the more I'm convinced you have the moral logic of toddlers.

No, that’s because we live to serve this ship, and so do you, but you just don’t recognize it. It’s a system that has you working your behinds in the grave to support, taxing you to death (literally) and then taxing your offspring as well when you go, but you can buy a bunch of crap while you’re here, and keep buying their crap to support the beloved system.

Lol. You should know this considering your militant anti-integration position. I’d almost applaud you for being aligned with an influential man but your work is on an anonymous message board. Well done!
