This situation has played out so many times when a group of us at work want to get together for drinks and such after work.
I only have one of my friends in our close circle that lives on the northshore and we give him hell everytime he says he can't make an event because of the drive.
I can't laugh at him too much because he lives in and belongs to Beau Chen.

Meh. The drive sucks but I can't blame someone that prefers raising a family in a nice burb. When you are 45, married with 2 kids, having drinks after work falls pretty low down the priority list all of the sudden.

Problem is there is a huge body of water next to it. There arent any nice areas to live rt outside the city that are worth it when you factor commute. Just live in the city. you dont have kids and arent buying, you will be fine.

I had friends at LSU that lived on the northshore but went to schools like Jesuit and Dominican. frick all that.

Hell no. Great location.
Have major water issues, I was stuck with boiling hot water for over a year. Everytime it was fixed, it would only last for a week or 2. Couldn't take showers because of this, had to take baths and put a shitload of ice in the tub to cool it down if I was in a rush.
Everytime it rains water leaked everywhere in the apartments through the windows. That was normal based on what they told me.
They got rid of the everyday security. Maybe this has changed now, but that was the case the last 6 months I lived there.
Gates always broken, was always dealing with random cars in my spot.
Dog poo always in the hallways.
My apartment was beautiful though and the pool was great, but I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone.

So you grew up living in New Orleans but don't know where to live in the area surrounding New Orleans? You should check out this new place called Lakeview

I didn't grow up here. Moved from BR after the flood. I know uptown really well, the LGD but that's pretty much it.

Good friend called us (up here in east Tennessee). He is a long time NOLA resident, generations, and he had just gotten a letter from his brother.

Yeah if he can afford a place in east Metairie, it's def. a good place to live. You can be downtown in 15 minutes if you leave for work early enough. Maybe sooner. It's so easy to hope on the interstate at Bonnabel or at the end of Veterans.
