Grinding out the day, but working 4 days next week, as well. Most everyone else on vacation, so someone has to man the office.

I’m working the holidays this year for the first time in 10 years and I hate it much more than I thought I would

I woke up to an unexpected day off (perhaps longer) following a rum fueled late night company wide email.

Boss said he will deal with it after the holidays.

Off today and Monday thats it until new years day. I have tons of PTO and usually get to sell back at least 100 hours a year to make some extra $$$. They didnt do it this year So i guess i will be taking a week or two off in the next month or two.

Nope. Besides, my group is uncharacteristically busy for this time of year. And my padnah who has the same role as me is out with the flu. And my kid is home with me. So, I'm turbofricked

But I'll be off Monday and Tuesday

Yes, and no.

We're here the office, but as soon as we all got our first construction estimates out for the day we've devolved into drinking and playing chess in the breakroom. (Yeah, one of the guys just recently finished watching The Queen's Gambit and has decided he's a grandmaster. I might have to let him win later. He's been getting' killed by everyone.)

I work when there is work to be done.

The down side is that can also mean on my wedding day and when my kids are born.

Nope...I'm the boss, gotta make sure everything is running smoothly so others can relax. It was tumultuous year, putting in a new system in what was called the largest project in our company's history. People need a break. Besides, I took four days off around Thanksgiving. My boss knows that if something breaks I know how to escalate and get the right folks involved to resolve it.

But, most don't know this is my last holidays with them. In six months I'll be a gone pecan.
