I remember seeing the finger length thing by sex on some PBS show when I was kid and being utterly fascinated by how accurate it was when I started checking people's hands.
To clarify, the OP's picture is for females only. Male hands typically display a shorter index finger than ring.
ETA: I've also been utterly fascinated at how accurately you can tell if a baw can beat yo arse by checking their knuckles.
