Notre Dame should absolutely play in a conference. Over the long haul they’re middle of the pack with Clemson, FSU, Miami, and others. I’m glad they’re out & hope they reconsider.
If you live in the state of Mississippi, it's probably Mississippi State. If you live out of state, which many Ole Miss alum do, it's probably LSU.

I still feel it's truth though and if I'm being honest, I'm 50/50 on whether or not Pete can or will sustain the success moving forward. Doesn't help my confidence that he was never really mentioned to be the guy until we were out of other options. But with a resume like his, I'm all for giving him a chance to do something special.

Lane got us this point and now the college football world is watching to see how far we can take it from here.

You can't overstate the importance of winning that first playoff game in our post Kiffin era. We prove right then and there Ole Miss can beat quality opponents without Kiffin. This entire off season narrative hinges on the outcome.
I'm not tracking on the Pete Golding to Matt Luke comparisons.

Luke coached under Cutcliffe/Ed O/Freeze
Golding coached under Saban & Kiffin

I see no reason to draw conclusions that Pete will find the same results as Matt.

Considering Lane's rap sheet when we hired him, this ain't so bad...

So glad we decided to give him his first ever coaching job because “he’s one of us!!”

Matt Luke 2. fricking 0

You act like we had a better option, or another option at all. We did not and considering the circumstances this was the best outcome.

And Ben's not wrong for what he said, either.

You’re right. He’s not wrong either and it’s to be expected from a beat writer who benefits from the additional clicks.
Call a man a hoe and get called out. Lane’s not wrong for calling him on it.

If Ole Miss is playing in the Cotton or Sugar Bowl on New Years with or without Lane, this will all just feel like a bad dream.

What in the world is making you so confident?

Hubris & alcohol

In all seriousness:
- In all likelihood we’re going to the CFP, hard to believe any coach would give that opportunity up
- Lane maintained he would discuss after the season, this is lining up and there is precedence here.
- I’m not going to start doubting KC now, if we needed him gone, KC would’ve kicked him to the curb by now
- I’m not at all convinced by the dribble spewing from the coon asses and swamp asses. The Brian Kelly fiasco has conveniently been all but completely forgotten about from the talking heads and I’m not buying it.
- You either have to believe Lane is a compete psychopath or he’s staying in Oxford. I’m not there yet.

There are many other coaches that are being looked at for jobs this year.

LSU & Florida both “all in” on Lane, so this situation is different. Lane is clearly the prize of this cycle.

quote:

Only Lane has attracted this circus.

This is accurate. Lane has attracted the circus, but he has not been the cause. He’s maintained he won’t discuss until after the season and apparently we will get an answer the day after the egg bowl. The circus was always a part of the deal when hiring Lane.

Both Landry & Knox had LSU ties before BK was fired.

He has consistently lambasted our fanbase about attendance when we are consistently over capacity.

I can point to examples of elite coaches being critical of their fan bases (Kirby Smart)

quote:

And from all accounts, the money and commitment are equal.

Right. But the money & commitments continue to increase. Why wouldn’t Lane (and Sexton) continue to allow the money & commitments to increase? This benefits the coach (and agent) and the team. Lane is leveraging his position to ensure the resulting outcome is maximizing resources to utilize for the betterment of the team. This is exactly what you should want a head coach to do. If Lane had signed the first offer, would the collective have still committed the same dollars or has the drawn out negotiations increased commitments?

quote:

Don’t allow the propaganda from his representation to fool you into thinking otherwise.

My thinking is that those of us who’ve bought into “if he’s staying he would’ve signed the extension” are the ones who’ve bought into the propaganda

There is no reason for us to give him a long term deal

This is the best stretch of Ole Miss football during my lifetime and most of our lifetimes. We have plenty of reason to have waited a couple of weeks + 1 more.

Y’all stop being pansy arse bitches and hold the line one more week.

quote:

He’s done nothing but act like he’s going to leave the entire time.

This is where I disagree, he may not be screaming Hotty Toddy from the rooftops, but it’s been far from the above. He’s said he won’t discuss it with the media until after the season and so far that’s exactly what he’s done.
100%.

LSU’s smoking gun was a big, board approved contract & lots of $$$ for NIL, the Ole Miss counter is no problem we will match.

At the end of the day, this is still a negotiation for the betterment of both Ole Miss & Lane Kiffin. And make no mistake the additional money coming into our program due to Lane’s competing offers is good for Ole Miss. The deck is stacked in our favor to retain Lane. Heed KC’s words and focus on going 1-0 this week, the rest will sort itself out.
It’s not like he won’t continue to be sought after by the top tier programs. If he continues to succeed at Ole Miss, the offers will continue as well.

Ole Miss is the only team desperate enough to keep Kiffin happy

How desperate is Aubbie right now? You were desperate enough to try & pry him 1 year ago & you've done nothing but lose since then.
When Kiffin stays, it will be a huge boon for Ole Miss transfer portal & recruiting.

Guys making their decision on where to play ball will have just seen UF/LSU go all out after coach LK & fail to get him. Guys will logically think, if those schools wanted LK so bad, maybe I'd rather play for him too.
