I know people have said this through the years, but it really is ignorant as frick. The piece of shite in that office is systematically trying to destroy this country with his leftist bull shite.

This is actually ignorant as frick.

I don't like what he's done/ is doing either, but respecting the rank is a dying trait of a free american.

IMHO, direct result of SJW types taking everything personal due to their lack of ability to approach an issue professionally or have a meaningful debate (pretty much what you saw in the GOP debates as of late). Now thoughts are mistaken for feelings and people don't know the difference between beliefs and values.

The war veterans in my family, mostly republican, can't stand what Obama is doing, but still salute the rank..

How exactly would that have fricked up relief efforts? By that time, we were out of rescue mode and in recovery mode. Who would have been distracted by him showing up and making an appearance to get Louisiana some exposure? The guys gutting houses who don't give 2 shits about him? The generous folks cooking and handing out supplies? He fricked up by not coming earlier and is just trying to save face now. I didn't care if he came then and don't care now but he wouldn't have disrupted any relief efforts Thursday any more than he will today.

Preface: I'm a republican

The Dem Governor asked him not to come until this week due to those reasons. And Thursday there were still people being rescued and LEO's were still going home to home clearing neighborhoods.

I don't think you understand fully the scope of resources required to host a presidential visit.

Funny thing is, Obama spoke the truth and people hate him for it. Trump used his supporters for a photo op. Obama coming here sooner would not have done anything positive, and I don't like the guy either.

Sure, I agree with this.

But, Obama blistered Bush for not landing in New Orleans on Wednesday after Katrina. That was less than 48 hours after landfall, and the rescue phase was still in full force. Bush landing would have cost lives, based on the disruption that inevitably happens when POTUS shows up. (OBTW, Bush was on the ground in New Orleans that Friday as well, but people were already saying it was "too little, too late" for him. Bush has expressed regret for not visiting the state command center in Baton Rouge that Wednesday.)

Obama was probably right to wait, but he owes Bush an apology.

I'm not holding my breath.

We get it, Obama haters are going to bitch about him no matter if he does something or doesn't do something. It's never correct, your mind is made up.

Sorry, but the way JBE kept bringing it up was like a buddy covering for his friend while he knew he was out cheating on his wife. And it conveniently didn't get brought up until Trump came. So I call bullshite on that. You think Obama gives two shits about a governors wishes in a red state?

But the way Obama eviscerated President Bush for not coming should at least invoke a response other than "Ya'll don't be racists, now."

Trump did a good job of playing this. There was no media circus, Trump used his own security people, and he showed up with an 18wheeler and dropped $100K. And to JBE's credit, he did retract his original statement and was very complementary of him, even though I thought it was a bitch move to not even show up to greet him.

Pretty sure Edwards requested this on Monday or Tuesday of last week.

I honestly didn't think the JBE hate would be so strong though.

I must have missed this because I was literally on the route Trump took to get to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church 30 minutes before he arrived and had no clue he was even going there. It's not like they shut down Magnolia Bridge road for hours while he marched through. Also, in that area there were no rescues or door to door sweeps by LEO that day. My subdivision is maybe 2 miles from there and we were rescued by boat the previous Saturday and were back home helping people gut houses by Wednesday.

Obama is apparently going to meet with the families of the slain police officers but not the drug dealer's family. I'm sure fat Gary is going to enjoy this.

Sure, I understand the resources it takes to welcome a visiting president. I'll actually buy the narrative that he wanted to wait until we could handle his security requirements.

BUT

1. That still does not excuse the lack of leadership exhibited by Obama since the flooding began. He has done a VERY poor job of communicating reassurance to the people of Louisiana. The fact remains, and will always remain, that he could not pull himself away from the golf course to deal with Louisiana.

2. The memo admonishing Louisianians to dial back the racism in recovery efforts is one of the most insulting messages I have ever seen delivered to our people. Through this entire mess, I barely heard a peep out of anyone rescuing people, riding in boats, tearing up floors, throwing away drywall, or giving supplies about race. Pardon me for saying so, but we were too fricking busy to care about Obama's pet project, racism, at a time like this. Louisiana really should stand up and demand an apology for that bullshite. I don't care if Obama said it himself or his staff did. It was on White House letterhead, and it insults every one of us. In issuing that memo, he spoke to us as children, while we worked our collective asses off to save ourselves.

Forgive me for not being excited about our lustrous potentate visiting today. I wouldn't cross the street to say hello to him today.

I get all of that. But if the President being here means more cameras and another day of this disaster making headline news across the country, isn't that a net positive? Because that is the same thing everyone said about Donald Trump, and rightfully so. Why are we holding them to different standards?
