The difference for me is that Katrina was THE national story from day one of landfall. Bush putting boots on the ground was more symbolism of his support of those in need.
Obama is here making the speech that he should've made last week. What makes it worse is that his trip is in response to Trump showing up here. Obama avoided Baton Rouge after the police shootings and sent Biden. That's another nail in this particular coffin. We're not just an area that is in the middle of a natural disaster. We're an area that has been through a terrifying Summer and is now facing yet another catastrophe.
