I could actually see estates like a paid plantation coming back. Basically you have the very wealthy living on a couple 100 acres that’s an organic farm with paid help to maintain their lifestyle and organic raised food.

Seeing as how we've survived epidemics, depressions, panics, civil war, world wars, etc with a steady move away from family farms, I'm gonna say no.

Technology in farming has increased so rapidly over the past 50 years that the small family farm is a lot less feasible. You can combine a quarter section in a day now.

There might be room for niche farms but it would be difficult to make a living this way.

If we do, a lot of people are fricked. There is no way half of these city dwellers could figure it out to produce enough food before starving.

But since your rational for why this would happen seems to have been pulled out of your arse, i don't believe we have anything to worry about.

I don't think OP is talking about farming to sell; I believe he's talking about farming to eat. If everyone goes to farming, why would anyone try to sell their produce?

This will be all over in Nov. If Trump wins, unrest will be crazy but they will forget covid and move on to removal from office initiatives.

Eventually. Populations will begin the shrink, authoritarians will destroy the economic system and people will need to be more self sufficient. Probably a few decades off

Get back to living on family farms you say?

I hope so. Large cities are becoming war zones. Soon they'll become killing fields for Conservative White Christians. Stupid arse bleeding heart white liberals they to dumb to realize they're being used by BLM.

So, every female professional or dad is going to leave the workforce for at least 5 years to stay home then just pick back up as a doctor, nurse, accountant after not working for years? Divorced parents with deadbeat exes and widows/widowers do what exactly?
