Don't Teslas have collision avoidance? So it's driver overrode that system?
In the video it looked like the Tesla began to try to get out of the way but it was too little too late. Not sure if it was the collision avoidance or the driver

If you don’t have a history of moving violations,

I mean, you’re admitting here you were intentionally cutting him off because he was “bullying his way”. So, yeah, take the L and don’t be a fricking dick next time. You basically had road rage and caused property damage as a result.

Yes!

Ticket must have been issued by the phone cops...

First move, move the hearing date twice if cop doesn’t show u win

Well, I saved my buddy a thousand bucks and kept him out of jail all over some bs unpaid tickets. So, yeah, it can be worth it.

Yeah but it's not nugget's responsibility to stop and let someone in. I could see if this were a zipper merge scenario but using a turn lane to bypass traffic then forcing your way in doesn't override someone's right to maintain their lane

You can attend the hearing to either fight the ticket or ask that adjudication be withheld so that it doesn’t make your insurance go up/put points on your license.
You might have a decent shot with the dashcam but it depends on the hearing officer.

Get the attorney and get the Tesla cam video. He may have stopped and tried this a few times before merging. Worth a shot.

100% this is what I’m going with. Tried to play chicken, car got scratched and you thought you were in the clear only to be surprised. Next time, don’t be a dick and just let the guy in.

People in Florida don't yield. One time I drove through Jacksonville and experienced it.

This is likely to cost a good bit more than you think it will. I personally would talk to your insurance company for advice.

I know it is Florida, but hopefully the OP doesn’t get involved in a lawsuit for pain and suffering from an ambulance chasing attorney trying to total loss the Tesla and claim a 1 million dollars in medical compensation. Since he was cited, that could put him at fault and put his insurance company liable for the damages.
Not sure if Florida has the same attorneys and accident victim mindset.

I got in a wreck once and was wrongly given a ticket. I immediately went to the guy’s supervisor and explained the situation. The cop admitted that the facts as I had laid them out were correct, but still argued that I should be given a ticket. His supervisor looked at him like he was complete f*cking idiot, told him he was wrong, and immediately took the ticket out of the system. The supervisor apologized, gave me his card, and said that if I have any problems to just give him a call.
Moral of the story – go talk to the cop's supervisor first and see if you can get it resolved that way before going to court.
