I don’t want people driving or operating equipment impaired. Prohibition isn't preventing that now.
It prevents it in the workplace. With ramdom screenings and screening post accident, most are smart enough to know a paying job is more important than smoking a little dope. I’m not talking about all work environments mainly those in construction and manufacturing where lives are in the line if an accident happens.

Resident genius goldennugget once said that weed smokers are lower than rapists and murderers.

Are construction and manufacturing workers allowed to drink alcohol on off work hours?

Until they can develop a "real time" way to measure impairment for MJ use for DWI purposes, I am against it.

This is stupid. Alcohol is the only drug on the list with an instant concentration test. Do you really believe people pop a hydrocodone and drop their keys in the fishbowl? Not a chance.

Yes and the same rules apply to being intoxicated at work.
The string I was replying to was my comment ion testing if one was impaired by weed the same way we can test for alcohol uses. The problem with weed is it stays in your system too long and there is now way right now to test weather the person is impaired or not the same way we can do for alcohol.
If they can develop a test for that then legalize away.

Not a good comparison to make because there exists a test that can instantly tell how impared a person is from Alcohol. Unfortunately that doesn't exist for marijuana.
Too add to that heavy equipment operators/truck drivers aren't allowed to take prescription medication even if allowed by a doctor if it causes impairment like hydrocodone.

Pretty much this I work in the construction industry albeit in the office. I really want to be able to get high on the weekend, but not worth my job. I also don't need a crane operator toking up in the bathroom that could kill someone by being high

So make the same rule for MJ? What’s legalization have to do with that?

Why does this not apply to other drugs? Why only alcohol and weed? What if I took too many Tylenol 3's and drove the forklift into the side of your truck?

Make no mistake I'm 100% for legalization, but that doesn't mean I don't have a few concerns.

That's because there's no reason for one and because it's literally illegal to make one because you can't get someone to smoke weed and then test them because it's a federal crime to do so. Legalize weed and the device is invented within a year.

It's a double edged sword if said forklift driver toked up on the weekend two weeks ago it's still in his system. They shouldn't be fired for being stoned when they weren't.

hopefully so but there is a dangerous period in my industry that could cause major concerns until that device is created.
The way marijuana works I could go get high right now and have less show up in my system than a person that smokes everyday but hasn't had a joint in a week. Not the same with alcohol we have a test that shows if they drank anything in the last 24 hours whether they are drunk or not.

So punish everyone because 6% of the population had to operate heavy machinery at work?
As far as driving, a high driver is more alert than a texting driver. That is the killer now. Maybe even worse than DRUNK driving.

literally nothing would change.

Again I stated earlier I'm 100% pro legalization. I'm only voicing concerns I have after it's legalized. I also don't think a forklift driver should get fired for toking up on a Friday and coming into work on a Monday only to have to face a random drug screen.
