People like to use meth and cocaine, too.

People like to shoot AR-15s and hunt, but there are those who want those banned.

Liking something is not a legitimate reason to legalize or ban something.

Give me some parameters on legalized marijuana, and I'll tell you whether I support the legalization of it.

What "parameters" of legal marijuana would you NOT support?

This is the problem that got it outlawed in the first place and persists to this day.

The Hemp crop is a massively useful and versatile plant. It can be used in medicine, lumber, textiles, plastics, rope, fabric, candles, waxes, etc..........

All of those things are illegal. Legalizing marijuana is a legitimate competitive threat to a multitude of industries.

You realize you don't have to be 21 to buy hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol or mouth wash or cleaning products, etc.... Right? There are more uses than just the recreational drug.

As for the recreational use, how about the exact same parameters as alcohol recreational use:
Have to be 21 to purchase
Have to have a license to sell it
Can't drive or operate machinery on it
Etc....

Having marijuana in your possession would be completely legal. Using marijuana would be completely legal. Driving under the influence of marijuana would be illegal. Employers could test for marijuana use if they so choose.

I don't know what the parameters are to begin with?

I mean, is it going to be regulated like alcohol? Then sure, why not? But I think the consequences of a DWI or DUI need to be much stricter for both alcohol and legalized marijuana, especially if you kill someone.

Yes.

DWI and DUI laws should be stricter for everything. Especially government issued addictive drugs synthesized in a lab and distributed enmasse to the population like candy ie adderhol, xanex, ambien, etc...

I don't it should be illegal, but I think our US Govt. should have the guts to pass a law leaving it up to the individual states.

Well the consequence of killing someone is that you go on trial for manslaughter. What more would you like?

DWI/DUI are a local moneygrab by police forces. If you really want to make the streets safer then simply pull peoples licenses. Why are we requiring people pay $5k+ for DUIs?

So that they can go do it again instead of facing any actual consequences, rinse, repeat.

As long as they don't let people shoot the marijuana's in to their veins I'm OK with it.

Why pot should be illegal:

That's five reasons an individual shouldn't use pot, not why the state should use tax money jailing people who use it.

Tobacco lobby groups put so much money into trying to keep it illegal because they haven't figured out a way to profit from it.

marijuana laws are well supported by powerful lobbies but the tobacco industry is definitely not one of them. They stand to profit the most by a nationwide legalization

they have the agricultural industry, packaging facilities, the distribution network and the marketing plan already in place to dominate the market. All they need is the product and a business plan framework and they'll be off and running. It would be a profit bonanza

Because people will still drive unlicensed.

We should make that illegal then. Or even better, we should make a law that says if we catch you driving unlicensed, you have to pay another fine.

Oh wait...

How about more jail time? That's a starter. I read a story today about a firefighter who lost his 5 year old son to a drunk driver in 2008. The woman is already back on the streets. If you make a stupid decision, like driving drunk, and kill someone, it should be a minimum, manditory, 20 year sentence. Multiple DWI/DUIs prior? Minimum 30 years.

As for taking licenses, unless you are going to somehow bar them from buying a car, or borrowing one from a buddy, taking a license does nothing. People drive without licenses already. It's illegal to hunt without a license, but people do it.

Imo you’re not qualified to opine on this unless you’ve smoked like 20
