Crime statistics show a decrease in serial killers since the 80s, but are they just doing a better cleaning up of their bodily fluids now with all the crime shows popularizing forensics?

As a big time i.d. channel watcher, i would say it's due to the public being more aware of their surroundings, and science technology.

There are discussions as to why Baton Rouge seems to attract them.

Imagine all the people that live in North Baton Rouge that have killed more than three people that have yet to be caught

We just dont identify them as serial killers anymore. It's just a couple of young guns on interstate, primarily in the East, doing hood rat shite.
Nothing to see here.

That chart corresponds with this chart. America got a little out of hand through the seventies and eighties.

Advances in investigative methods and sources, such as DNA, caught up with the mobility of killers and put a large amount out of business before they could progress or persist.

They’re there.
They know how to stay under the radar.
Killing prostitutes seems to be their preferred method.

People always talk about the good ol days but crime and serial killers were off the charts in the 70s and 80s. California was pretty bad

Well, we have a group that commits serial homicides in areas where there are progressives because they don’t stay in jail for the first ones. Or the police get the don’t tell them anything treatment.

I remember a teen was shot in front of like 20 other people and they never were given a description of the shooter. That guy has killed again. Guarantee it.

Overlay an inflation chart on top of that crime chart and I bet you have a good idea as to why.

This is the best answer.

Usually, if one does stay off the radar for extended periods of time, it is because of the victim group. I.e.: prostitutes and homosexuals. Especially homosexual prostitutes.

These groups are usually not fervently investigated by police like others are. So a killer has a chance to prey on them longer without the killings being connected.

Sadly, I think the next group after those two are children. Although the police take those cases more seriously(for lack of better wording), the serial killers of children are usually not on the suspect list of police until they frick up somehow, like get caught in the act of abduction.

In cases with children, the police usually focus on family, then close friends, then neighbors, etc. Child serial killers do not kill those they know. They are random, like most serial killers.

I believe there are serial killers (staff) in nursing homes who never get caught.

Direct correlation to the invention of the autoblow. When the full service sex robots are a go then we’ll be able to vacation to Nola again

Without a doubt.

Some are "Angels of Mercy", and others are like the staff from the one in Montana that keeps texting me to not steal from the patients.
