We have become so reliant on technology that if an EMP brought us back to the stone age more than 90 percent of society would be fricked. We are smarter than our ancestors ,but we are weaker. I showed my niece how to change a tire when she started driving and she had no clue where the spare even was and how to use a jack. Even more troubling is most people wouldn't even know how to grow a garden, hunt, fish, or survive in general. We are losing our most basic survival skills.

For example, are people today not taught how to change a tire? It seems like kids today are less likely to try to figure out something. Instead they quickly call on their parents or someone who knows how to do it.

Knowing when to use the word fewer over the word less.

The art and artistry of Smoke Rings.

Cannabis has different smoke ring qualities than tobacco and thus people cannot make a decent smoke ring.

Debating - Usually ends in a slew of insults.
Reasoning skills - thoughts start on the internet and are regurgitated.

As an IT guy, I am seeing less and less people concerned with internet safety.

I know it seems weird but with the internet being interwoven into our societal fabric, people seem MORE willing to do stupid things online figuring safeguards are already in place.

Previous generations viewed the internet as less secure than today's generation sees it.

There's a false sense of arrogance in ppl that they "know what to look for"

Then I blow their minds sharing tales of situations I encountered where users willingly compromised themselves that those outsiders would have never considered a threat.

People may shy away from obvious virus threats (see Britney Spears naked here websites) but are increasingly placing SSNs, CC statements, and other personally identifyable information online via personal email and online storage

All it takes is one compromised password for most folks and all their shite is in the hands of thieves.

Two-factor authentification will help mitigate the threat but the best advice I can give is if you have to keep personal info online, keep it separate from your daily online accounts and with a completely separate password.

I find that a surprising number of my friends ages 21-29 do not know how to cook. I understand not knowing how to cook when you're a freshman living in a dorm with a meal plan. But once you're out on your own, you should not be eating out half the time and eating pre-prepped/made food the other half.

Cursive writing is a good one. My son doesn't know how to write it because he has never been taught , he's in the 7th grade.

People don't have to. With concepts of reuse being taught for decades it's actually an achievement that people can simply plug and play software modules with tools like Wordpress, Git repos, nuget.

Language is changing. A properly educated person in the 1950s would have said "fewer and fewer" rather than "less and less." The distinction between "less" and "fewer" is disappearing in American English.

Note I'm not being the grammar dick here. I think the distinction is silly for the most part, and I think it should go. I'm just saying that [fewer][less] people are taught (or use) some of the more arcane grammar rules.
