The patient base is more female than male and generally, they feel more comfortable with a female provider.

Dude's wife is a smoke show in her late 50's..Dr Z a legit OT 10 for a GILF (has a grandkid)

Dermatology usually goes to the top of the class in Medical School because it’s got good hours (not much can’t wait until Monday) and there’s a lot of cash pay services.
Add in that lots of male MDs seek out other stuff (ortho, surgery, etc.) and you get a skewness to female Derm.

This statement gets repeated a lot but is not often the case in reality. I think people assume it's true based on the hours, lack of call, and lack of emergent situations.
