Maybe playing on your cell phone at the light saves lives.

and when red light cameras come back everyone will be pissing and moaning about their rights

Every traffic light here in the UAE uses cameras and they don’t mess around with the fines for running a red light. You get a blinking green, then a blinking yellow and a prompt message on your phone with the amount you owe if you’re in the intersection when it turns red. I’m checking up if that thing is blinking green when I approach an intersection. A few thousand out your bank account for each infraction is a hell of a deterrent.

If folks are allowed to walk in a CVS and walk out with a buggy full of “free” product, do you think that they care about a red light, speeding or stop signs? It will definitely become more common as law enforcement continues to decline.

Same with turn signals. I see relatively few people using them.

It has gotten to the point where it feels like you need to wait at least a few seconds when your light turns green

Best look both ways when yours turns green...folks all over the nation have gone from flooring it when it turns yellow to flooring it 30 seconds after the other light turned green...

I have a red light by my house I run often. It takes ten minutes to change and you can clearly see if anyone is coming.

I have a couple of lights like this on my commute.

I saw a good friend of mine’s wife get killed because of this.
About 7:00 a.m. red light at the intersection of Hwy 30 and Hwy 73. Light turned green and she started across the intersection after a couple of seconds and a tanker truck coming east on 30 hit her broadside. Pushed her car a hundred yards or so down the highway. Me and a couple of other guys who saw it rushed over, but it was obviously no use. Man.
Mid-twenties EMT at the plant there, with three little kids.

In the famous NBA practice voice, or NFL playoff voice, it's your choice...."Red lights, are we talking red lights, c'mon man we talking red lights?"

They don't even go after robbery, murder, or grand theft, why bother with red lights?

In Lafayette always stop when you have green cause someone is running their red.

I definitely run more red lights than I used to. Not saying it's right or wrong, but traffic in BR is a bitch in most areas and the lights don't do a good job of keeping it flowing.

In some urban areas it is highly suggested that you treat it as a four way stop and do a "California roll" through, at least at night for your own safety. But I have seen a lot of that recently. Gotta keep your eyes peeled as getting t boned by someone speeding through a red light can be potentially dangerous for both parties.

Red lights, stop signs and turn lanes are a mere suggestion in Nola. Now, going 80 mph plus between high rise to Slidell is for your life and should be a valid defense should a cop ever bother to appear and stop you.

Wouldn’t sit at a light or stop sign after dark in the city either.

Shittt, you must be bypassing Houston. I've never seen red light runners like these idiots.

People are all about themselves these days. To hell with everyone else. It’s one of the big reasons that we are circling the drain as a country. We live in a morally bankrupt society in the West.

Can’t comment on that, but I know that stop signs are.

My driver’s Ed teacher said he wished more stop signs would be yield signs.
