Yes. And a reduced plea to careless operation or something similar comes with no jail sentence, less consequences for insurance, no conviction on your record, and many many other better consequences.
But if you want to sit in jail for 10 days to 6 months, get an SR-22, and list you convictions on employment apps, by all means.....

The very good lawyers who are very good salesman are scary competent people. They create their own mini-dictatorships and mini-worlds.
There are a lot of lawyers who are great salesman who recognize they need to hire good lawyers to do the work. They are very successful.
All of the other combinations of competence in business and law are out there grinding it out and trying to find the right firm structure to have a successful career.

Negotiate a plea. That's the way of the world. You think prosecutors want to try every case they have? If you have a good record and a decent attorney, you can negotiate most charges down.

Correct. The last case I had is the reason I got new hardwood installed in the house.

Just ballparking, I would say that it's:
- 50% whether you have a reputation for being able to work the ADA to the bone and possibly embarrass them in the process if they decide to take it to trial, even if they basically can't lose.
- 45% your relationships with the ADAs and judges.
- 5% how the ADA just happens to be feeling on a given day.

If you can combine this dog attitude and competency while being a good salesman (rather just general gregariousness) with

You can clean the frick up. Do it long enough and you get more money for less work, for the most part.

Depends dramatically on the situation. And frankly, whether the individual is in fact guilty or innocent usually isn't particularly important to the calculus.
