PTs and Orthopedic Surgeons recommend chiropracty.

Chiropracty has come a long way since the 80s. They know a great deal about the spine and nervous system. I have a bulging disc. Ortho sent me to chiro and to PT. Stopped going to PT because it was basically useless. Chiro gave me stretches and adjusts me. I have been getting better finally. That's only an anecdote, but the fact that "real" doctors have sent me to the chiropractor gives me some hope that I'm not stepping into a complete quack's office.

If you're talking about the guy in Metairie on Vets near Parrains he is really good.

I saw him for pretty severe back pain and it resolved with treatment.

Re-injured it and it got much worse. MRI showed large herniation with nerve root impingement at L4.

Pain and numbness mostly resolved on their own after about seven months but I have flare-ups.

I'm hesitant to go back for fear of him re-herniating the disc with the manipulations. Not sure if it's in my head or if that's possible.

Not unless you are okay with an elevated risk of stroke.

As a last resort I checked out a Chiro about 2 months ago at a health fair. Been dealing with a lot of pain from my hips to my head for way too damn long. I didn't tell him jack about my problems & that I was just curious. He nailed my issues to a T. So anyway I've been going to him on the reg since then and it has made a world of difference for me. I actually look forward to it.

A lot of the stuff seems gimmicky so I am still cautious, but so far it has helped me.

That's about as good of an endorsement as I can give.

This guy Australian Chiropractor (youtube) has done some good for people. Though he did get in trouble for adjusting a new born, which is kind of weird.

He helped this guy Youtube (skip to 3:30 to see the adjustment) breath again. Watch how his back muscles relax after the adjustment.
