Are brick and mortar chain stores fricked once boomers can't stop at them anymore?
Supposedly already starting to hurt the chain restaurant industry like Applebees and Chilis, with boomers not being able to sustain them as Millennials typically try new things. Companies like Bed Bath & Beyond, Pier 1 Imports, and others are going to start falling by the wayside once the boomer herd begins culling hardcore and Gen X become too lazy to go anywhere.

Applebees and chilis are always packed. And it isnt boomers. Trashy 30s-50s lower middle class mostly.

There will still be enough people like me who'd rather see the product in person and have it now rather than a few days from now. That's just my take on it, I like going out in public. Cigarette smoke and people don't scare me though.

Totally. I've been disappointed by online orders (mainly clothing, shoes) more times than not.

Businesses rise and fall. That's just what they do. How many online businesses have failed?

I think a large majority of people still like to try things on and see things in person. To some, shopping is an experience and gets them off the couch.

I went to Baybrook Mall in Clear Lake this weekend and it was packed. That might be an outlier but the brick-and-mortar still has value.

Not good long term. You won't be able to raise prices with that customer base.

I hope this is rhetorical cause I don't have time to figure it out.

It's all going to be online and companies are going to become tremendously more profitable without all the overhead. Invest in something, anything, now because 10-20 years from now every retail company will be very profitable.

Malls are in serious trouble

I think outlet malls will survive as brick and mortar but will they continue to be able to offer the deals they do.

The mall here where I live (yes, there’s only 1) seems to be thriving. They’ve added stores and buildings on a yearly basis.

I prefer brick and mortar at times. I miss the days of going to Blockbuster. If I want new shoes, I’ll go see what the stores in the mall have.

I will too. But I’ll buy them online for 30% cheaper.

I just bought a starter on Amazon for $75, laziness isn't the reason I didn't go to autozone and pay $225.

Why are we emphasizing the mortar? I think everyone would know what we’re talking about if we just said brick stores. I feel like the mortar is getting more attention than it’s due.
