Are Asians secretly rich?

I recently watched the crazy rich Asians movie and I have never met a rich Asian like that in my life. The richest Asian I know drives a Lexus, is Hollywood over exaggerating an engineer/ accountant/ lawyer/ doctors life? How can they make so much money?

The ones here are pretty well off b/c they live 4 generations in one house. They buy a store and don't hire actual employees, b/c relatives work there.

Crazy Rich Asians is actually a fantastic movie. One of the best of the year, surprisingly.

the ones in this country tend to be because they place value on education and family. kids grow up in stable homes and get advanced degrees in fields like mathematics and sciences.
they are also frugal as hell. which leads to more savings.
but look at china, there are a billion people. some are rich, some are poor, but most probably fall somewhere in between.

Watch that movie again. The rich Asians were not engineers/accountants/doctors/lawyers. The main character was middle class, and she was a college professor. The crazy rich Asians all were:
Real estate magnates
shipping tycoons
owned a massive fashion design empire
owned a Chinese tech company equivalent to Google
These were not your upper-middle class suburban yuppies. These were your Warren Buffet/Steve Jobs/John D. Rockefeller type people.

Asian families usually live together for life and pool their money in addition to having a strong mandate from the parents to be successful. It’s a cultural thing.
I knew an Asian family that pooled their money together and bought a big arse mansion. I guess if you want or have to live together, that’s the way to do it.
Asians are among the hardest working cultures out there as well.

The Asians I know keep a lot of cash readily available either at home or their business and live wel beneath their means. I guess you could call them “secretly rich”

I was hesitant to see if but went with my wife when it was in theaters and I was pleasantly surprised. I mean it's not a testosterone filled flick but it was definitely watchable.
