You poor fricks are the jittery ones, always afraid we're gonna gape your gold-digger wives and GFs. cuz we tend to be hung like horses, and don't have to rely on wife-swapping or finding a Bull to keep from being divorced or stepped out on.

You poor bastards...all advertisement and nothing to sell.

But I sure am jealous of all those wasted inches, lemme tell ya.

When I was around 9 months old, my mother had a German Shepard named Gretchen. The dog was quiet except when I was crying. The dog would start barking to alert my mother.

Sister had a small poodle. Barked constantly. drove me insane. When the dog died, she put her in a plastic bag and put her in a deep freezer. Sister loved that dog but it annoyed me during the Holidays.

Absolutely none of this junk applies to Boston Terriers in my experience.
They are quiet, chill, playful if you want and social.
Rarely if ever bark.

I have a shepherd. She is mostly gentle. But small barkers set her off, especially if they try to come close. She protects her "space" and heaven help any dumb little yapster that comes too close.

BTW, the only thing dumber than one of these little aggressive barkers is an owner who lets them off leash near a big dog they don't know. They think their little pooches can do no harm and are nothing but cute. My 80 lb. girl does not share that view. I really would hate for one of the little ones to get maimed due to an owner being grossly foolish. It can happen in a flash. She got her teeth on a pug and on a little terrier. It was all I could do to stop it before things got really bad. My dog is always on a leash and always well behaved - unless one of the little barking biters comes charging up at her.

They also don't seem even remotely friendly when we go to the fenced off/leash off park that my apartment has. There is always some kind of dust up because a larger dog goes somewhat close to a smaller one and the small one will go after the larger dog.

When we were living in an apartment I was walking my 90 pound Doberman/ lab mix. Now my dog in the past has stood up to a 120 pound bulldog that came running up on my gf, so he ain't scared. But one day a fricking yorkie that was 5-10 pounds got out and came running up to my dog, literally jumping up on his face. I think my dog was so shocked that this rat dog he could kill in a second was so dumb that mine just started backing up and using his paw to gently push away the little yorkie like it an annoyance.

It was funny, but it's a prime example of how much more aggressive and mean (and more stupid) small breeds are than large breeds.

Yes.

This also true with short men.

My brother has a German Shephard that is so insane I can hardly be around it. It has been to obedience school, he has tried training it the same way he has trained past dogs, everything. She's not "bad" per se, but so massive that she knocks people over constantly trying to jump on them. She ate his sofa last week.

He knows someone who got one from the same breeder (both black German Shephards) and it is equally as insane.

I have a mix that is mostly Westie. Not a purse dog, but still a smaller breed. She's as laid back as they come. She's laying in the sun in the back right now.

I feel like these anecdotal stories are retarded.

My mom had a chihuahua that just died last month at nearly 17 years old.

She was one of the smartest dogs I've seen and rarely barked. When she did it was low and not very loud. Not the typical high pitch screech at all. She wasn't full blood though.

I'd say most small dogs are loud and annoying but not all.

My 13 year old Border Collie has barked once in his life. I can't tell is he's autistic or a sociopath.

People with small dogs don't put the time in to train them on leash etiquette or playing etiquette because they don't do any damage.

When I first got my dog (75lb weimerainer/lab mix) he would pull and bark like crazy (he's a rescue) but we trained him and he's way better now.

People down my street have two chihuahua's that go batshit if anyone gets within 50ft of them on a leash and the lady just sits there on her phone barely paying attention. I can only imagine how people would act if my dog did that

It's funny to watch, my dog (which is a goldendoodle that I got my gf (no pics) for Christmas) is up to like 28-30 pounds now and even when he was smaller the full grown retrievers and labs just let him do what he wanted to.

He'd play w/ their ears and cheeks like crazy and they would just sit there. It was hilarious. Now my dog is like 14 or 15 weeks old and runs a lot more and likes to wrestle, but if a small dog comes out he'll go check it out and once it starts to bark like crazy at him he's so confused as to what in the frick is going on.

The only thing worse than the constant yapping is the fact that the owners of the small dogs just act like it's my fault that their dog is going insane.

But every single time I see a dachshund (just an example) or a smaller breed of dog they are loud as frick and bark uncontrollably until we're out of sight.

I never really noticed this until I got my dog, but is this a common trend just w/ all dogs? Why would anyone want a smaller dog?

Its usually single women or college girls who have small dogs and they ruin the dog by turning it into a moving stuffed animal and treat it like an infant child making it extremely attached and anti-social.

God I wish my dog was like that. We got him as a rescue when he was 2 and he was never socialized as a puppy.

When a small dog comes up to him he's like "okay it's fricking go time" and attacks the thing like it's a 100lbs lab.

We've tried and tried and tried to socialize him, took him to trainers, everything. I've finally conceded that my dog will just have no dog friends
He loves people though, he's even super gentle with little kids, but not dogs

I pity these unnaturally tiny, shivering, bug-eyed, overbred dogs.

If it's small enough to drop kick, that's a rat.

Dogs under 30 pounds are really cats.

And cats are useless.

1. Smaller dogs feel the need to be aggressive as a defense mechanism for their small size (feel free to draw comparison to the Napoleon complex).

This gets reinforced because the larger dog is usually afraid of the smaller dog, which can easily strike at its throat.

So happy little dogs mouth off at big dogs and get away with it, which convinces the little dog to keep mouthing off.
