I was told the older dentists were taught to leave teeth alone if they aren't bothering people. Apparently the new dentists are all taught to be proactive and preventative.

Normally I advise people to go to over 50 dentists for that reason. Seems like the under 30 ones want to crown everything in sight. (gotta pay them student loans) BUT there's a guy (early 50's) we know who apparently NEVER checks hygiene and people will go years with no work and BOOM, all of a sudden need serious work done. Small fillings don't pay the bills.
His patients want to know how they went years with "no problems" and all of a sudden have a mouth full of issues.

She talked me into it the next time. The tooth never bothered me. Now I have pain in the tooth.

Yeah, she probably didn't do a very good job and the margins are leaking, meaning you probably have tooth decay now. Dentists, at least where my fiancee teaches, are taught proper treatment planning, not to start cutting on teeth as soon as possible.

LA Dental center is Kenner is good depending on the dentist. I needed some stuff done and one of the younger dentist over there really helped me out with a good price and good work a year or two ago. Better price than all other dentist as well.

I am very anti-dentite
The best dentist I ever had was in the ghetto.
He was happy to get clients with insurance, did a good job and didn't seem to add unnecessary crap

Yeah, it's nice. You could buy a house near Bluebonnet and Highland with a catfish pond

Yeah my hygienist is a smoke show. And to answer the OP’s question dentists are not scams I just got my permanent grill installed yesterday.

And this is true for the office as well. Hygienist are what keeps the lights on. If they were smart they would collude to break away from the shadows of a dental office and start standing up dental cleaning offices.

I had an accident (got hit in the face with a come-a-long) and busted three teeth.

I had to go to a oral surgeon to have them pulled, then bone graphs placed, posts then crowns for implants.

$17,000.00 my insurance paid about 5k of it

I think some states allow it ( I think). In Alabama, a dentist has to be present for hygiene to work.

A close 1st cousin is a recently retired dentist from Shreveport who was elected by his peers to the presidency of the American Dental Association so many times he eventually had to tell them to stop. I now go to the same dentist as his mother and brother which is funny as I picked him off a good sized list of recommendations cousin furnished for the area.

Interesting because their website does not show a single repeat president...

There was a Scientogist Dentist in Florida that used to go around to conventions preaching the Scientology method of doing things and applying it to Dentisty. That has pretty much been adopted as standard practice for dentist. Basically what can be done in one 2hr visit will be done in four 30 min procedures. That way you get paid by insurance 4 times instead of 1

He must have said some other Association then. He’s got a roomful of plaques, awards, even a couple trophies in his home office.

Good find though on the comprehensive list!
